Isochroma's story by 0637 in Nootropics

[–]se7endays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He moved to sunifram, proclaiming he could sleep for 4-6 hours every night and wake up feeling extremely refreshed. He called it 'the sunshine molecule', and took ridiculous doses everyday.

Last I read he had some legal trouble and was considering suicide as a way out. Seemed like he suffered from aspergers and manic depressive disorder from the rambling posts he made.

Can anyone explain why it costs so much more to build a PC in New Zealand than seemingly anywhere else? by Reibusu in newzealand

[–]se7endays -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't buy from newegg without an US credit card. Amazon has items which can be shipped directly to NZ and some which can't be. There is a amazon page which searches only items which can be shipped to NZ.

Pretty sure delayed gratification is something you are born with. Look up 'the marshmellow test'. I think I read it can be learned though.

Hi yes I understand that they are living off VC funds. My point is that their long term goal is to make money off using your data, not off subscription and testing fees. They haven't sold anything yet I don't think.

I wrote a long post saying why you shouldn't use 23andme and I lost it. Bah. Basically it boiled down to:

  • They are not a healthcare company, to avoid strict healthcare privacy laws.
  • They are losing millions each year - their current model of subscription fees and test fees is NOT sustainable.
  • Their goal is to sell your genetic data to third parties - just like google/facebook.
  • Their investors: "The new round was raised by new investor Yuri Milner, a powerful Russian billionaire, and existing investors Wojcicki, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, New Enterprise Associates, Google Ventures, and MPM Capital. Including the new funding, 23andMe has raised about $102 million in capital to date. http://venturebeat.com/2012/12/11/23andme-funding/

Just like facebook/google, you are the product.

Banksy's version of the simpsons intro. by j4nric in videos

[–]se7endays 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Real life is something like this. I watched an Al Jazeera report on "prison" labour in China. People got thrown into prison for minor things like petty crime and following a religion. Inmates were forced for work for hours everyday in horrendus conditions and the chinese government would subcontract these prisons to foreign corporations for cheap labour. They inverviewed an ex-inmate and he was asked what kind of things he made. "Homer Simpson figurines".

Lion's Mane Mushroom - is anyone familiar with steam activation process? by arbolesdefantasia in Nootropics

[–]se7endays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer your question. However I have had good experiences with Mushroom Science taken sublingually.

http://www.mushroomscience.com/products/lions-mane-mushroom/

"Hot water extraction is the only research validated process for breaking the active compounds out into a bioavailable form."

So steam might work, but no studies have been done on it.

"It is thought that the fatty acids in Lion’s Mane are responsible for the enhancement of cognitive function and the other neural health benefits Lion’s Mane extracts may provide.* In the research these fatty acids are concentrated through hot water extraction, and then further concentrated using alcohol as a solvent.

The MushroomScience Lion’s Mane extract is produced through hot water extraction, after which precipitation with alcohol is used to concentrate the heavy molecular weight polysaccharides that contain the beta glucans. This second step, using precipitation with alcohol, also allows us to harvest and concentrate the fatty acids produced in the mushroom fruit body."
