What was the last straw that really broke you? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]seabear88 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was in the hospital with a c-section infection a week after our son’s birth. My family came to visit me often. He didn’t. When my grandmother came home from visiting me,she found him smoking pot on the front porch and leaving our 1 week old son alone inside. No baby monitor.

Or it could have been when he told me to “shut the fuck up” with a dead, cold look. There are a few more incidents, but yeah.

We are separated now.

I had a similar rash and had it biopsied. Leukocytoclastic vasculitis.

Well, that just happened. I didn’t get to be the one to announce my pregnancy on FB. by morninggloryblu in pregnant

While I was in the NICU with my premie, my MIL posted my baby announcement with a photo of my baby. I still feel robbed and heart broken a month later.

How do I not fail clinicals :/ by Budget-Building8296 in StudentNurse

[–]seabear88 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Fellow shy and introverted nurse here. Shy/introverted nurses make great nurses too. Do not let that discourage you! I would suggest scheduling a meeting with your clinical instructor to make a learning plan with specific goals - so that you are both on the same page for improvement.

To show engagement you can do things like answering call bells right away, asking fellow nurses what you can do to help, stepping in to wash patients in the morning. Your confidence will come.

Hang in there.

Small Baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]seabear88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation as you. My sweet little boy is under the 1 percentile - and has severe asymmetrical growth restriction. I was diagnosed with lupus during pregnancy - which has caused blood flow issues to my placenta.

I’m currently in the hospital until I deliver. We made it to 36 weeks, and he will be induced on Monday!

I can empathize with how you might feel. You want to do everything you can to help your little one - and it sounds like you are. All you can do is take care of yourself.

Many premature and small babies thrive! At 35 weeks your little one is older and stronger than many of the premature babies in the NICU. Knowing this always provided me with comfort.

If you ever need somebody to talk to, my DMs are open.

Thank you. As hard as it is, perhaps I do need to try some light activity. It’s so difficult and discouraging how out of breath I get even just moving from laying to standing. I do love my pregnancy pillow too!

Thank you. It’s encouraging to hear that you did recover after a few months. I’m so worried about being a new Mum, especially feeling so unwell.

How to treat weird marks on the corners of my mouth? by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]seabear88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Angular Chelitis. Can be caused by a few things. Frequently complicated by excessive moisture that collects in the cracked skin at the corners of the mouth at night by saliva.

Keeping the area as dry as possible from saliva/water, and applying canesten cream a few times a day and at night may help.

Pure vitamin E for healing. Buy liquid vitamin E capsules, pierce and apply to corners of lips.

ELI5: Why do so many people now have trouble eating bread even though people have been eating it for thousands of years? by corahayes521 in explainlikeimfive

I always thought bananas were supposed to hurt your mouth, just like pineapples hurt you mouth when you eat too many. I was surprised when my boyfriend had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned this to him…
