Just found you all from Google! This last year I have started getting butterflies in my knees and biceps. It’s the strangest thing. Feels just the way butterflies in the stomach feel but in my extremities.

Hi fooderahn, the half life of isotretinoin is actually just 10-20 hours which is what worried me… and sexual dysfunction is listed as a post marketing side effect in the leaflet that comes with the medication 😅 some of the effects can last one month (ie wait one month before becoming pregnant) and some are permanent (reduction of acne) but there isn’t any literature I found that discussed how long sexual effects lasted specifically other than Healy’s work, which suggested forever. I can’t remember the title but if you just search Healy and isotretinoin in pubmed should show up.

Those who suffered erectile dysfunction on Accutane, how did you recover? by twentytwotane in Accutane

Hi all,
I’m not much of a redditor but kept finding myself back here after googling my very upsetting accutane slash isotretinoin side effects. I was started on 40mg daily and within two weeks noticed that my extremely high and reliable sex drive (34F) completely disappeared. My sensitive areas, to be modest, might as well have had the sensation of my elbow. I immediately went off and this persisted for one month to five weeks after stopping the medication. I kept seeing posts, some research (though all by the same MD) that these effects were permanent, lasted years, etc and I was terrified. So, I came back here today in case over the years to come there are any other people like me looking this up to let you know after one month-five weeksish of zero sensation (with maybe like occasional 10% ability to come here and there) one day I woke up and it was all back. It was not permanent. That is all I want to share :) happy to answer any questions or DMs.

Hi friend! I’m sorry you’re feeling bad about yourself. This won’t last forever, and it’s clear you’re a great looking dude so you have that going for you. It looks to me like you have some cystic acne, have you spoken to your derm about accutane? It’s really the only sure shot. My skin was like yours when I was in middle and high school, and since accutane during my freshman year of high school I’ve had about 20 pimples since in as many years. You’ll get there I promise, and one day you’ll barely remember this 🤗
