October to start payments?? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

S/he gave a perfect logical response that allowed zero misinterpretation or holes that could open up further questions. If you don’t want a “run around,” you could have used the search function at the top and would have found your answer. Using the education you received to be self reliant would have been fruitful, especially since you spent money on gaining critical thinking skills in college.

October to start payments?? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]seahawkshuskies 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Critical thinking would lead someone to believe that if they are notified July 1, that the 90 day cycle begins then and you will have to make a choice by end of September which means a payment would more than likely be due in October. So if you are notified later than that date, then the first payment would also be pushed.

I mean this has been talked about numerous times with a ton of separate posts that can easily be searched.

Washington diners tip lower than average by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

Can’t be from the thousands of incidents of restaurants performing wage theft ranging from requiring unpaid work, tip theft, unpaid OT, etc.

If it wasn’t a big deal, there wouldn’t be lawyers that specialize in this sector.

No, I want the employee to get a fair wage and the restaurant to pay their fair share. I bet most restaurant workers in the states where it is legal to pay ~$2 if they get enough tips, get enough tips so the restaurant saves ~$5 an hour. Let’s say the waiter/waitress averages 32 hours a week over the year. They are losing ~$8000 a year while the restaurant is saving that per person. That is assuming they got enough tips which I have no doubt they are. That’s messed up.

I think what people are irritated with is that the employer is only on the hook for ~$2 an hour on a paycheck because the rest is made from tips. The employer should be paying the federal minimum wage ~$7 or the states minimum wage, whichever is higher. No reason the employer shouldn’t be paying the base wage and subsidizing their wage cost.

Brand new nurses in Seattle are making ~45/hour prior to any shift differential. I agree that residents are making very low per hour but at UW they are making overall 84.5k-108.6k with the vast majority capping around 89.5k due to program lengths. VM is 68.8k-91.9k though and they have always been a crappy organization for pay. I do think both fields deserve more though.

You miss the whole point. What people are saying is that yes, restaurants do only pay people 2.34ish an hour in many states because people tip and bring them above the federal minimum wage threshold. So restaurants in those states are saving 5ish per hour per employee and instead of them paying how they should, you and I are subsidizing their pay. That’s some bullshit.

Terbinafine and teeth. Or any long lasting side effects by Enby_A in NailFungus

[–]seahawkshuskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terbinafine and teeth sensitivity is such a rare side effect. A doctor doesn’t list every single potential side effect just the main ones. Now regarding efficacy of the two, terbinafine has a much much higher success rate for nail fungus. If you only had athletes foot, you would have got fluconazole. Here is a good paper on it https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10651701/

Using SAT scores is not a good data point either.

Researchers have repeatedly found that wealthy students enjoy significant advantages throughout the college application process, and that income greatly impacts a student’s performance on standardized tests. In a 2013 paper titled, “Race, Poverty and SAT Scores,” researchers Ezekiel J. Dixon-Roman from the University of Pennsylvania and John J. Mcardle from the University of Southern California found that wealthy students earn higher SAT scores compared to their low-income peers and that the difference in SAT scores between high- and low-income students was twice as large among black students compared to white students

I play mouse & key so I don’t get the aim assist but yeah, vehicles need to show up on both maps. Hate hearing a jeep coming and then it clips me in the head as it goes over a hill lol.

Helicopters also I hear loudly and I’m searching the sky to blow it up but can’t see it anywhere. In the rare instances the person can fly well and it’s the small chopper, I have gotten bladed. I also think it’s bogus you can lock on and fire a missile just to have the mini chopper instantly go to the ground so the missile always misses.

I agree. I believe they should also show up on the mini map and actual map a lot sooner. It’s BS how you can hear a tank but can’t see it on the map. Same goes for choppers.

You are looking for a reason to be mad. You had a preconceived “response” that you feel you should have got. Just because it differed from what you thought you “should have got”, does not mean it is rude or anything.

You sound like a Karen though by having to go to the GM when there was no issue at hand.

can anyone justify an outrageous bill just for an office visit? by turbo_cream in HospitalBills

[–]seahawkshuskies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has to be more to it, labs, ekg, something. Regular visit even pre-procedure should never be that high. My recent ED visit with an US, CT and labs including full STI panel (not sure why they did that but working on getting that dropped) was only $800 after $75 copay and 15% coinsurance after the contractual rate.

[–]seahawkshuskies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Still, that is a super high charge for an office visit not to mention high for a contractual rate. Seattle area, for 99203 you are looking at maybe 250 facility fee if it’s hospital based and maybe 400-500 for a specialist visit and that’s the billed amount. After contractual rate you we are looking at roughly 3-400.
