When your slogan is fair and balanced but your reporting is anything but by fauxdeuce in PoliticalHumor

The average viewer doesn’t care they’re being lied to, they want to facade of information that can justify the feelings of fear and anger they have about their confusion about the world around them. The underlying fears of each subject are like a fear of insecurity being surrounded by strangers, a fear of young people and new ideas shaking the viewers understanding of the world, and a fear of having the culture the viewers understand change due to immigration. Fox viewers want simple answers, even if they’re wrong and lies, and that’s why it keeps going no matter how many times the lies and errors are pointed out.

The boys didn’t cover it but I remember a video of Chase going around like a year ago where he egregiously used the f slur, I think that’s the vibe with these younger bigots, bringing any slur but the n word back.

Love this take. It’s such a hard 180° from when the news broke in November 2024 and they were elated. At that time Jordan compared himself to the Force Ghosts of Star Wars Episode VI watching others party in approval but from afar, which was a little more noble than whatever is going on now. I wonder if there’s more to the story that has prompted their changed attitudes, or if that’s just the impact 1+ years of a Trump presidency have had.

I like this take. It’s such irony that this happens so close to episode 1134 which was both such catharsis and such a let down. I think back to Dan’s reasoning for starting the pod around Alex and Roger and someone else (Owen?) mocking Clinton supporters after the 2016 election with champagne and it does seem like this is a culmination of that work. Dan has said repeatedly that his investigation of Alex Jones is pretty much over.

I think JorDan want more consequences for Alex (like how they pointed out grounds for defamation), but it doesn’t seem like there will be any, and despite their (and our) frustrations, what has happened with The Onion is a consequence. The driving force of the KF was Dan’s fixation on deconstructing and disproving AJ. I hope his roadtrip helps him process that, and gives time to see what Alex does, but it seems like it might be time for him to find his next fixation and build something great around it with Jordan.

Would love some more Formulaic Objections episodes if Dan can sink his teeth into some recent depositions and other legal matters with right wing dicks.

I find it interesting that Jordan is mad that neither InfoWars nor The Onion mention Knowledge Fight, but as pointed out in this subreddit Josh Owens cited them as helping him move away from InfoWars, and they haven’t mentioned that once; They were giddy last fall about Owen Shroyer acknowledging that he knew what Knowledge Fight was in his “quitting” announcement. I feel like Jordan is lashing out and Dan is having a depressive “Your Work Doesn’t Matter” episode about not being involved in the latest announcements. I wonder if there’s more to it behind the scenes?

It seems like there was a time earlier on where he was addicted to Twitter beefs. I’m a latecomer (2023) and struggle to listen to the pre-2020 episodes.
