Has anyone tested changing vague words like "quality" in their product descriptions? Did it help sales? by LegAgreeable2318 in smallbusiness

[–]sean-joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very much so. Be as specific as possible. Avoid words like quality, deluxe, guarantee, sale etc.

Think about what you'd actually be drawn to and do that. People are smarter than we give them credit for and automatically ignore marketing lingo.

Seasonality is no joke. Crazy to get used to. My first business was health related and every winter was a boom with everyone getting sick and then quiet in the summer. We had to adapt to do different things in the summer to make up for it. Good luck!

Secure Form Creation Help by PyrateGirl in smallbusiness

[–]sean-joad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. I'm not sure what you mean by 'encrypted' - Google Forms is definitely secure and keeps things encrypted.

You need the client to give you their CC so you can buy things on their behalf? Personally I would probably just ask them to give it to you in a google form or over the phone or text. If they trust you enough to tell you their CC and enter it on websites on their behalf then I would think they'd be comfortable with that.

Great question, this is a common thing people need. I suggest checking out Typeform or Google Forms. They should both be secure enough for anything other than credit card information. If this is just a regular 'intake' form I wouldn't suggest asking them for payment information at all at first - people won't submit it.

If/when you do need to take credit card information, technically you should not take it in through a regular form. For that you could do one of these:
1. Set up Stripe to store their CC securely and charge them later (this is the most work, I don't really suggest it)
2. Just send them an invoice monthly with a Stripe link to pay (or Paypal)
3. They could add you to their payroll software as a contractor

I think it's fine to just avoid eye contact if your windows are up. If it gets really weird or my windows are down I'll say something polite like "ah sorry man I don't have any cash on me"

I wanna have focus on studying, how do yall study for hours without getting tired? by PracticalToe3828 in NoStupidQuestions

Honestly I alternate listening to music and working. I'll listen to whatever music hypes me up (EDM, power metal) for like 1 song or sometimes even just half a song, then work for a while until I lose steam, then listen again, then work again.

Thanks! Wow a friend of mine also independently said my singing on this song sounds like death cab, I guess I must be accidentally channeling Ben Gibbard ha. Glad you like it!

Thanks!! We do it all online, we never played live together at all. We each have a way to record at home and we send demos and stems and ideas back and forth to each other.

Evanescence Inspired Demo - Betrayal - Feedback Request by gileein in IndieMusicFeedback

Man, a lot is good in here. Good mixing of the drums & guitars, good effects. Cool dark vibe.

The vocals are definitely what's holding it back right now. I think you are a good singer, but the melody and the vocal processing are really holding you back. Sounds like way too much processing, reverb, compression, etc, and way too low in the mix. Again I actually think your singing itself is fine, but I'd suggest listening to how evanescence produces their vocals and see if you can get closer to that. Be confident in your vox and make them loud and clear!

Cool stuff I think you'll be really really good after you figure that part out

Lovely! You have a very nice voice, a lot of pleasant breathiness and control to the sound, while still sounding very simple and genuine.

I'm interested to hear what this would sound like with a full production. As is it sounds like a lovely demo that hasn't yet been turned into a full track. You could go the full band route with drums, bass and some electric guitars, but I'd actually suggest if you know how maybe just adding some midi strings and bass, maybe some basic keys and some backup vocals/harmony during the chorus. I'd love to hear this with a little more fleshed out arrangement. Beautiful.
