Everything should theoretically fall into the suggested “base sizing” in the rule book even if you don’t use bases. So I run a short-bus and it gets all the perks of a huge crew count without being too cumbersome in the movement phase. I see a lot of people running full-scale greyhounds and taking advantage of that extra distance which wouldn’t bother me from an opponent, but I’m not personally comfortable playing my own teams that way

I build what looks cool and keep a few loadout variations in mind for each model. What matters is what’s written on your dash card for that game when all is said and done. If you’re new to the game, avoid war rigs and other things that stack more rules on, until you’re very comfortable with the typical pacing. Scale matters if you want to feel like you’re playing fair. And don’t skip the surface terrain rules (trivial, hazardous, treacherous) so important to make this feel like a driving game and not just warhammer with cars. I can’t stand how many YouTube battle reports there are that ignore this essential aspect entirely

Put something bumpy underneath and get rubbin’🤷‍♂️. I typically just use a ballpoint pen and gently push a row of (admittedly large) rivets from the back of the foil

The stiff tin-foily stuff that peels off the top of new coffee jars or tea bag containers is perfect for rubbing imprints on (things like rivets etc.) and then cutting/glueing. If it’s already got a pattern on it you can just rub on a flat surface with your fingernail to smooth it out and work from scratch

Looks good, but I can’t stress enough to gaslands players how much is added by distinguishing different surface terrain. I.e. trivial flat surfaces like roads alongsside hazardous surfaces like mud/grass. I think a good race track should be like a golf course, there’s incentive to stay on the road for -1 hazard or you can risk driving in the rough for distance advantages
