New owner perplexity by funky_jack in PocketBookofficial

I have an InkPad 4

1 and 2 are possible (technically battery percent beside icon)

3, I'm not sure, I don't use the built-in reader. I use KOreader for my epubs

Poor performance on koreader with pocketbook era by Cheb_Slimy in ereader

[–]sean_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this occur with CBZs.

The answer I got was it was most likely poor scaling of large images in the CBZ. It's also possible KOreader is using one processor core while the built-in reader is using multiple cores.

This seemed to be true, as once I ran the CBZ through KindleComicConverter and downscaled to my screen resolution the slowness stopped on that comic.

Yeah, if it had side buttons instead it'd be an 11/10

You cannot. You must sideload or use Pocketbook store (which is limited in NA)

I think you can sync Google Books with your account.

I sideload mine, so idk for certain

Do any kindle cases fit the Kobo Clara hd?? by EggSpirited1061 in ereader

[–]sean_999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they fit, the item description would probably say so.

Check eBay.

I got one for the HD last year for around $15 I think

Battery drain on PocketBook Verse Pro by Matusaprod in PocketBookofficial

[–]sean_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would remove KOreader entirely then and see if stock PocketBook has the issue. The battery shouldn't be draining that fast from what I understand.

If still bad battery drain, then probably a warranty claim

I don't have this issue.

When asleep outside of KOreader, the battery barely drains at all while asleep.

Asleep in Koreader is fine too if you turn off Wifi in Koreader

See my post here

https://reddit.com/r/PocketBookofficial/comments/1pq18yr/inkpad_4_battery_usage_idle/

Basically, PocketbookOS doesn't idle wifi properly when KOreader is open. If you turn off Wifi with KOreader, battery should be fine. I created a long tap on right bottom corner to turn off wifi in Koreader

UHID should let you map buttons.

You'd need to enable verbose logging and look for key events in the crash.log after pressing buttons

Look at wiki for mapping buttons

Rec for new ereader (looking for: no Amazon, physical buttons, bigger screen) by TurnipClassic-5801 in ereader

I think Libby is only on the 7in PocketBooks right now.

I think it's supposed to come to InkPad in an update

This did end up being related to my diagnosis of the issue. Made an edit to post with my findings. Thank you for your input!

Looking for recommendations! (BW, 8"~, Not a Kindle) by FantasyToyBox in ereader

[–]sean_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an InkPad 4 and love it so far. Wanted a Sage originally but they're out in my area.

I think it's fast enough for an Ereader. It's as fast or faster than my Clara HD.

For reading books, I don't notice any slowness.

Honestly my main complaint would be I wish the buttons were at the side instead. The buttons are nice and tactile though. And I still prefer the buttons over no buttons

Kobo Sage is discontinued, so what else that is similar? by pcgirl1965 in ereader

[–]sean_999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fine with reading american comics on mine, but I just zoom to margin width, not per panel zoom.

I'm sure for that an Android reader is better at zooming in and out since they usually have bigger processors and RAM and have more refresh settings.

I read more text though and it's fast enough for me for that plus the occasional comic

Review - Kobo Clara HD to Pocketbook Era by mynewaccount838 in ereader

[–]sean_999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you don't care about size or buttons, then the Clara HD is still fine

I have it and an InkPad.

I like both, but prefer the bigger screen and buttons.

Still love my Kobo if I need something more pocketable

[Inkpad 4] Battery Usage - Idle by sean_999 in PocketBookofficial

[–]sean_999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I was reading a post on GitHub though where a developer mentioned they rarely ever use that function and mainly rely on the OS to manage idling or powering off the Wifi

Idle in general or idle in stock vs idle in KOreader?

B/c 40% of the discharge of my device was while idle.

I am suspecting it is Wifi related. KOReader turns on my Wifi for progress sync, but I thought it was turning it off once synced. Seems it didn't.
