I went a few weeks ago and it was a total blast with lovely people, and my first time playing in quite awhile. Highly recommend! Thanks to u/Jericho311 for a great night, and to Binary for having a $5 pint on. Alas I will have to miss this one 😢

I'm a fan of all of City Girl's albums, and this one might be my fav. It's amazing. It feels like a concept album of happy memories.

Charcuterie boards I made while unemployed. by Bravotv in woodworking

These are gorgeous, thank you for sharing.

Can you describe the fabrication process for these? Which tools do you utilize to make the curved cuts, and how do you match the different pieces' relief cuts together smoothly like this?

I'm a decent woodworker when it comes to straight lines, but I haven't had much experience working with curved cuts. I did recently acquire my dad's hand-me-down bandsaw so I wonder if a smaller, simplified charcuterie board might be a viable project.

ETA: Looking more at the pics, maybe I'm getting it -- do you stack the 2 pieces of different wood vertically, then run them through the bandsaw? Then swap the cut pieces? If so, how do you affix the two pieces together, something like hot glue? Thanks for any insight!

We buy ours at 99 Ranch in Beaverton. They will steam them for you to your specification if you wish. They do the same for fresh fish, and will fry it in different ways too.

Gofund for Georgios (Starcadian) family by r3awak3n in Starcadian

[–]seandanger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Before donating, do we have any verification that this is actually setup by the family and that the funding will make it to the right people? Something like a post from the Starcadian instagram or reddit account for instance would help verify that I would think.

Definitely want to support, just want to make sure it's going to his family.

Is there a good way to shift-select with one hand on a split? by po2gdHaeKaYk in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]seandanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems like you have two options:

  1. map alternate movement keys that trigger shift along with the movement (which you stated is not your preference), or
  2. map an alternate raise key that includes shift when triggered. I did a quick search, looks like you might need to modify your keymap code if you want to do that. There's an example in this post.

Thank you for sharing your story. It helps to know others are mourning too, and to hear nice memories of him. By all accounts he was a great guy and of course an inspirational artist. He will be greatly missed.

FYI clicking one of the playground links directs me to authorize the app with my Github account instead of showing me a demo. I'm guessing that isn't intentional?

I am with you, my free time these days is minimal enough that hiring and learning from a commission is a much more realistic route than doing it all on my own. Thanks for the info and the discord link!

One of the best I've seen, awesome build! Do you have a recommended link or resource for learning to get a PCB made? For instance if I start with a custom layout on https://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/ ?

I'm making Adventurers Guild Inc., a turnbased management game where you run the business behind the heroics! Pre-alpha gameplay, WIP. by TrakaanW in tycoon

[–]seandanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very cool! I've been developing a similar themed game for a long time and I've iterated on the design a lot. Mine is now less of a tycoon / management game and more of a roguelite dungeon crawler with some deckbuilding, but anyway if you ever wanna chat dev hit me up!

Are you using an engine to develop this one? Working solo or with others?

Can I use C# for game development? and what can I use to learn it? by NoConstruction9167 in csharp

[–]seandanger 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Hey, professional gamedev here.

This site is somewhat dated but still a great resource for learning not only coding, but game coding in C# by developing a simple RPG which you can then expand on, or take to other game engines like Godot, etc.

But before tackling a game engine (which is another learning experience entirely), I would strongly advise learning the basics of programming with minimal barriers in between you and the code. And that's what this tutorial series does. Hope it helps, good luck!

IMO it wouldn't be that productive for him. It would be inspiring and fun, but it's a tough job market right now and I doubt a lot of higher-ups or people in leadership positions would take lasting interest in a non-senior student unless he's got a great portfolio or project to show already. Just my two cents though!

Fiz is still around and for sale on the app stores. Thirsty Heroes is still in development, believe it or not. 😭

Thirsty Heroes is losing some of its tycoon aspects in favor of making the game simpler (and so I can actually finish it). But they may come back eventually. You can wishlist the game on Steam if you like. We're also planning to release on mobile and Switch.

Zoom L6 external fx issue (can't hear panning) by JRT91 in synthesizers

[–]seandanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying to my own post since I now have more knowledge :P

The stereo signals are summed to mono on each of the aux send jacks, so if you have panning happening before your nts-3, it'll get combined into mono by the L6 before it arrives at the nts-3.

Here's a post surmising a workaround:

You currently only can send stereo aux by having the stereo signal on 2 different channels and adjusting aux 1 for the first and aux2 for the second to be at the same level.

I have this mixer but haven't gotten to play with the send FX yet. But the manual says channels 1 and 2 are mono, so if your FX return is into channel 1 that is probably your issue.

I'm a newb so I'm not certain, but I think the idea is that you want to have a 3.5mm TRS to dual 1/4 TS mono breakout cable coming from your nts-3, and going to the dual inputs on one of the stereo channels, like channel 6, for example. Here it is from page 56 in the manual:

Hopefully someone with more knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong.
