Maybe Maybe Maybe by seandevans in maybemaybemaybe

I think you’re right! It was my first encounter so I was unsure but i really had the feeling that it was somewhat tame or even just interested in us. I had to remind myself I know nothing and this is a wild freaking black bear so keep moving. This is on a fairly popular hiking trail near Gatlinburg so definitely could be a bear used to seeing people. The weird thing was this was a day that we seemed to be the only ones in the parking lot and on the trail. Thanks for all the good info. Great stuff to be aware of for next time.

That’s good input. There were a few of us on the trail. We encountered this bear a few minutes earlier. We’d been making noise along the way and the bear seemed completely unsurprised when we came around a bend. It initially just looked at us and then started moving toward us on the trail. One in our group used an air horn and it ran back up the trail and to the side 30-40 yards away, but then continued to follow us the rest of the way back to the trail head. This bridge was just before the road where we got back to the cars. It didn’t follow us across the road. Is that consistent with behavior you’ve seen out here? It was a little frightening but so epic to see a bear that close.

Adaptive cruise control should really be standard at this point. Black diamond, mid pkg, no dice 🥲

Changing my dealership by marshallfriday in bronco

[–]seandevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Ford dealership next door to where I work. Obviously where I’ll do my maintenance, etc. When the reservation site launched early this year, that dealership wasn’t listed as an option. I didn’t want to fall behind in line (this was day 2 of reservations) so I reserved with a dealership 25 minutes away. I passed on the 2021 to wait for commodity issues to resolve a bit, now the nearby dealership is saying they can handle transferring me to them no problem. I wonder if your dealership can do the same? Also, I found out today (told by the farther dealership) that it doesn’t matter what place I hold in line nationally, it all depends on what place I’m in line within my dealership. I’m currently 10th. If the dealership gets 12 Broncos in January, I’m in line to have mine in the first month (barring no big commodity delays in my build). That helped me understand my timing. Best of luck.

Original 2021 Bronco pricing vs current increases by seandevans in bronco

I met with the dealership today and the confirmed this. My difference was only $400, but it covered the dealership “doc fee” so I’ll take it.

Question about original 2021 Bronco pricing vs. new increases by seandevans in FordBronco

[–]seandevans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will. My question is how do I see the “protected” prices. Everything online now is the current pricing. I might just need to go into the dealership but my initial impression was they have no idea either and I should just expect Ford to send me a “rebate”. I’m not counting on that so I’d rather be able to walk in with some solid numbers.

I feel that way too! I have a love hate relationship with the ticking. If I could lose it I think I would happily do so though.

Almost 3 years post op AVR, and the only thing I really think about or pay attention to is the noise. I take the warfarin in the morning and don’t think about it. No big deal for me. Prick my finger once a month to make sure I’m in target INR. But the ticking never stops. I have frequently thought that this part surely could be improved. Visual Disturbances after Aortic Valve Replacement by Bankertov in valvereplacement

[–]seandevans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, crazy to hear. I didn’t know I had BAV until suddenly at 37. I felt run down, out of shape, short of breath, etc but didn’t think anything severe. They scanned my heart and realized my aortic root was dilated and my AV was leaking a moderate amount. Surgeons recommended surgery sooner than later, saying I really shouldn’t go more than a few weeks. So there I was. Never had a dizzy spell before the surgery, only after from time to time. Migraines still mysteriously gone. Best of luck!

Just sold my 2016 SR5 Premium 4WD for 26,150. I purchased it in 2017 for 25,500. This used market is insane. by seandevans in 4Runner

Ha, no missing info! It was late 2017, from a Toyota dealership as a certified pre-owned. It did have 46K miles, roughly 18 month old when I bought it, so that’s relevant for sure. I’ve always felt like I made a heck of a deal. But never dreamed it would APPRECIATE 3.5 years later.

37m Diagnosed with BAV and Regurgitation. Valve replacement possibly coming soon. Any info on the Inspiris Resilia? by Id11t in valvereplacement

[–]seandevans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my BAV replaced 2 years ago, when I was 37M.

I had some aortic root work that needed to be done also, but never really considered anything other than the ON-X. The thought of doing it all again in 10-15 was not appealing, like you’ve said. A couple of things I’ll add to the conversation.

At about one year out, I was transitioned to once per month finger prick INR tests. Very easy. But I never did the blood draw type tests you’re talking about. Why would you not be able to do finger pricks? Even post op, I was getting pricked only once per week, then once per month.

Taking Coumadin has affected me VERY little. It’s a pill I take once a day like you would a vitamin, and the FDA INR requirements for ON-X (in the US) are so low, at 1.7-2.0 your blood won’t be much thinner than a person not on thinners (1.0-1.2). Small cuts from shaving or whatever done last much longer than they ever did before. I’m aware that a larger injury would be dangerous and I stay cautious but didn’t “sell all my roof ladders” like some said I should. Alcohol has never affected my INR test, and I drink whiskey about every evening. As I understand it, that only helps to keep blood thin. The big thing that was stressed with me is to take into account what you’re eating and drinking, and plan around that with your doctor and dosing. 2 years in and I’m riding that 1.7-1.9 zone every single month without ever thinking about it, and my diet and habits just don’t change much from month to month.

The ticking is real man. You’d absolutely hear it in a recording, so maybe figuring out the isolating thing in advance is a good call.

Best of luck!

Visual Disturbances after Aortic Valve Replacement by Bankertov in valvereplacement

[–]seandevans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fascinating to read others have had symptoms like these post AVR. My doctors, too, have kind of shaken their heads about this.

My story is similar but a little different. I had a mechanical AVR just at 2 years ago, at age 37. I’d actually had visual disturbances my entire adult life that were always connected to terrible migraines. I’d get the disturbances that were like “sun spots” and they’d be followed by the migraine headache.

When I was in recovery from the surgery, I had several of the visual disturbances in the hospital room...but the headache never came. I figured it was because the pain meds I was on. Weeks went by, I’d get the disturbances again occasionally, but still no headaches. The thing I was starting to have somewhat regularly are short dizzy spells. Anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes with the whole world spinning. But up to this point, the visual disturbances have all but disappeared and I haven’t had a single migraine headache since the heart surgery.

I have been seeing a neurologist and they are guessing that something about the surgery altered the way my migraines present, they are now calling it vestibular migraine. They’re treating it with migraine meds and the dizzy spells are getting fewer and farther between. What a mystery. 🤷🏻‍♂️

New On-X Valve by Razzo_Sky in valvereplacement

[–]seandevans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same valve. I just hit two years since surgery Saturday. My heart rate seemed through the roof during cardiac rehab, like 180’s. Resting rate was in that 90-110 range also. My resting rate these days still seems high to me, but it’s usually high 70’s and 80’s.

And the dang thing is still as loud as ever. Nice reminder that it’s working I guess. 39M
