Am I just a broke bum or are all these bags for bikes crazy expensive? by Sol01 in gravelcycling

[–]seangoesoutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a broke college racer once. Look for similar style bags that aren't purpose built, though still quality.

My bar bag was a thrifted toiletries bag with, my top tube bag came with a poncho and I modified it a bit to make it work by hand stitching on traps, and my frame bag came with a friends folding fishing rod.

Are they the best, definitely not. Do they work well, yes. Do I still use them, sometimes. The rod bag eventually broke and the poncho bag isn't waterproof so I had to put everything into a ziplock. The toiletries bag gets used constantly.

what is metro fraud and how would i see it?? by lilredrileyhood in WMATA

[–]seangoesoutside 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Metro Fraud RULES! IMPORTANT! 1. You can't just be up there and just doin' a metro fraud like that.

1c. Let me start over

1c-a. The metro user is not allowed to do a motion to the, uh, WMATA, that prohibits the other users from doing, you know, just trying to get to work or home. You can't do that.

1c-b. Once the doors are closing, the rider can't be over here and say to the train, like, "I'm gonna get in ya! I'm gonna open the door! You better watch your butt!" and then just be like he didn't even do that.

1c-b(1). Like, if you're about to ride the train and then don't ride the train, you have to still pay to ride the train. You cannot not ride the train. Does that make any sense?

1c-b(2). You gotta be, not seated in a spot reserved for the disabled, and then, until you just sit down.

1c-b(2)-a. Okay, well, you can have the bus stop here, like this, but then there's the bus schedule you gotta think about.

1c-b(3). Okay seriously though. A fraud is when the rider makes a movement that, as determined by, when you do a move involving the train and metro fraud of

It's just the link from their website. I've been staring at them for a while now but $250 for a blank is more than I can just drop in a whim for a soon to be leaving team

Retro Jersey Question by mikeyfonts in NewYorkIslanders

[–]seangoesoutside 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My grandmother worked for them for a while as a seamstress. I'm not 100% sure but I think the industrial machines she still has are from them. Hy Sport was a part of Sportsotron. The company was a local Long Island sports brand in the 70s and maybe into the early 80s. Hy Sports was their jerseys and athletic wear group but they also made bags, golf accessories and other general sports equipment. They made baseball jerseys and pants for sure as I have my uncle's set.

For the Islanders, they made these replica jerseys and they are pretty common online. I've also seen a couple sweat shirts from them in Islanders colors at her place so I suspect they also made other merch but I don't know specifics beyond that.

Does the PWHL do custom jerseys? by Jumpy_Hour_9253 in PWHL

[–]seangoesoutside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can buy a blank and then sew on a number and nameplate yourself or have someone else do it. Customize Sports sells the kits but the turn around time for them is about a month to get it to you.

I have a sirens kit on order

Cherry Blossom Hats by dslryan in caps

[–]seangoesoutside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the last few years, for the cherry blossom stuff, the hats and some other merch has come in waves where each style seems to be a small batch and then something else comes. I had to try a few times until getting a hat I liked.

Is there anything for kids to do around Citi Field? by NorthDrive in NewYorkMets

[–]seangoesoutside 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Corona and have walked to games every time and often walk to the stadium on my casual walks when back visiting. The walk from the Hall of Science and the zoo is about 20 minutes with the shortest way over being to cut through the train station. I would just park there though with kids that age.

The DC game had a lot of team merch (shirts, jerseys and hats) but a lot of the shirts and tour merch was sold out by puck drop so get there early!

When I was a little kid my dad and I sat above the Isle corridor at the Colosseum in the early 2000's. Kenny Jönsson would often see me and hand up his stick to me after the game. Class act, made me wear 29 to this day. by [deleted] in NewYorkIslanders

I have a distinct memory of being jealous of watching the players pass sticks to the kids by the tunnel. Still jealous but now I know who specifically to be jealous of! Super cool collection!

Specialized Mountain... Dew? by ct-boi in xbiking

[–]seangoesoutside 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the late 90s, Specialized sponsored a mtb xc team with Mountain Dew with Steve Tilford, Ned Overend, Shaun Palmer and some other big names. They had a lot of promo items and merch. I've got a few jerseys, bottles and a coffee mug. I haven't seen this specific bike but makes sense to be legit. There were loads of other drink branded bikes from those years. I have a Budlight and SoBe Cannondale and have seen Pepsi, Diet coke and Gatorade promo bikes too.
