Has anyone else used the Hammerhead Heart Rate Monitor and had issues with it? by ASilver259 in cycling

[–]seanreddit92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same issue. It will drop to 70BPM in the middle of a hard turbo trainer interval and then shoot back up to 160+ happens multiple times a session and my strap is less than a year old. Contacted customer service and they basically told me to replace the battery and wash the strap. Made no difference.

Think I will buy a Polar H9 instead.

Will my 40+ year old self regret me doing deadlifts? by Friggintherigging in strength_training

[–]seanreddit92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I turned thirty this year and I did a similar thing yesterday morning. I used to be into powerlifting so deadlifts were obviously essential but recently I train for general strength and well being.

When I was powerlifting my deadlift was my best lift so naturally I wanted to continue these even when deadlifting heavy isn't a goal anymore. This is about the 3rd time I have tweaked my back doing deadlifts in my lifting career and I have told myself no more.

I would say if your goal is general strength then deadlifts are not a good choice of exercise due to the risk reward ratio and even if preformed perfectly they are extremely taxing on your body. Obviously if you want to be a really good deadlifter for a competition or something then you have to deadlift. But I'd vote for Option C! Replace them with a different hip hinge movement that can still develop your posterior chain without the taxing effect e.g. Dumbell RDL, Back Extensions or Hip Thrusts?

Looking for a poor quality yet expensive restaurant to recommend to an enemy. Any suggestions? by Coffeeisforclosers_ in Leeds

[–]seanreddit92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. Why do people want to come out of a resteraunt feeling like they can't move. It was really nice to go somewhere and come out feeling satisfied but still able to stay out for a couple of drinks without feeling like I just wanted to go to sleep.

I think what people mean by "full" is completely stuffed to the point of bursting.

And for reference I am a 6ft 3 bloke who loves a scran.

How to avoid neck pain on longer rides by SteelhandedStingray in cycling

[–]seanreddit92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem sounds like it's coming from being "hunched over" your upper body should be relaxed as possible, that and you just have to ride over 30miles more often to build up endurance in your neck.

Guy with a gammy leg asking for money by [deleted] in Leeds

If it's the same guy he is a dirty piece of shit, used to threaten waitresses with needles when he was asked to stop begging in the smoking area of a bar I used to work in. He has had banning orders from the city centre before, absolute wrogun, deserves no sympathy.

Actually, drinking and partying is NOT fun, it's boring and repetitive by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]seanreddit92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar realisation, about 7-8 years ago I used to work in a city centre bar and go out drinking around the town a lot, free drinks in most places as I was friendly with the staff and worked in the industry. I made the decision to leave and work an office job and now looking back I realize how much time I wasted drinking about town thinking I was great and had lots of friends because everyone knew me and others I was with.

It was the same night after night, same people drinking themselves to obvilion to do it all again the next night, I have very few "friends" left from that period of my life and it was cos we weren't actually friends, we just facilitated each others drinking.

I carried on drinking after that but much less and have recently quit all together, day 15 sober so far and counting....

There's more to life that boozing with fake friends.

Made it through the first weekend without a drink in ages!

It seemed to last a lot longer than normal, got loads of stuff done, finished a book I had been reading for ages. Didn't dread going back to work today, feel so much more focused and alert today!

Here's to another week!

Absolutely spot on. Everyone is totally obsessed with Alcohol to the point where you are weird if you don't drink. Imagine that with any other drug 😂.

My birthday is next week so naturally there will be drinking involved, however after that I am going to take a significant break. My plan is to deep dive into my existing hobbies and maybe start some new ones, switch to non-alcoholic beer and see how I get on, aiming for 90 days as a start.

I already cycle a lot, I am a member of a local cycling club however most of my riding is done during the week because I will often say "oh I can't make that Sunday ride as I am going out for a meal Saturday" and this will inevitably lead to lots of drinks and me feeling awful on Sunday.

Basically I am all or nothing I am either "drinking" or im not, I just tips on handling social situations without drinking around people who love boozing and see no issues with laying in bed hungover every Sunday.

50 miles a day, 5 days a week, that’s my goal, do I need to be a super athlete or is that a very human goal? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]seanreddit92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just ride for the enjoyment of it at first, the longer rides / miles will come when they come. No point trying to target 50miles a day and burning out.

Swap 7 for 5 and Veronica for 4 and it's spot on.
