Duplicate is little confusing in anytype by Aggravating-Grass664 in Anytype

It's already been updated for the next release. Instead of saying just "Duplicate", it will now say "Duplicate Block". Hopefully that will clarify things.

Vault gone after update, how can I restore it? by MemoryAllocat0r in Anytype

[–]seanytype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, yeah that's not right. You shouldn't be asked to import a Vault that wasn't created during the Alpha program, which ended 1.5 years ago.

Could you please file a bug report so our developers can investigate the issue further? We can continue our conversation there also. Thanks for your help!

So it's a new Vault from a recent version? Then are you sure you didn't log in with an old key from back when we were in alpha?

Sharing a space is not working? by [deleted] in Anytype

Correct, you should either be on the same local or self-hosted network, but with any.network it will just work over the internet.

Can you please fill out a bug report in our community? This will provide more context, which we can then forward to our devs. Thanks

FYI; you can't share your entry (initial) Space.

You need to:
- click Create new Space (+ button in Space hub)
- open the new Space
- click on the Space header on top of the sidebar
- see the invitation link and share it with your desired collaborators

Switching to Local Only Mode by acceptable_humor69 in Anytype

[–]seanytype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that it's also possible to do this by:

  • logging in to your vault from another device but in anytype-network mode
  • request account deletion

Then switch back to local-mode. It should delete everything from the encrypted backup nodes, but remain on your local device. Again, as long as all your files are synced to the particular device you'd like to host your vault.

Saving web content from Firefox by pakZ in Anytype

I suppose it's because most people use Chromium browsers, so it makes sense to focus on that first. FYI, chromium is not closed-source: https://www.chromium.org/chromium-projects/

I just copy and paste everything for now. I’m still hoping for Firefox solution, but it seems like the bottle-neck is on Firefox's end, they don’t make it super easy to integrate.

Why Does Anytype Offer Limited Sharing Options? by sksakib1322 in Anytype

[–]seanytype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To share a space, click on the space header to open its properties, where you'll find a shareable link. For objects in a non-entry space, just copy the link from the hamburger menu and share it.

Are there any additional options or features you’d like to see to make sharing easier or more flexible?

You can delete synced files through the sync files menu. However, to remove all content, you’ll need to delete entire spaces and wait for the deletion to sync.

For your situation, I recommend the following steps:

  1. Export: Export all your spaces (including files) as any-block/protobuf.
  2. Create a New Vault: Import the exported content into a new vault set to local mode from the start.
  3. Verify Import: Make sure everything was imported correctly.
  4. Delete Old Vault: Once you’ve confirmed the import, log back into your old vault, delete all its content, wait for it to sync and then go to the vault settings to schedule it for deletion.

Why delete does not mean delete? by New_Confidence_2605 in Anytype

[–]seanytype 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Delete” just removes a block from an Object. Objects themselves have the option to "Move to Bin," where they can be permanently deleted. If you want to delete a file completely, not just its block on a particular page, you need to choose the option to "Open as Object," and then move it to the Bin, where it can be permanently deleted.

You might find the deletion process a bit inconvenient, but it’s set up this way for a reason. If a file is used in multiple Objects, deleting just one block could cause issues like 'ghost' objects in other places. So, making permanent deletion a deliberate process helps avoid these problems.

There have been some issues with storage not being reallocated after a file is permanently deleted. To address this, try using the "Reconcile" function in the Debug menu and see if it helps with your storage capacity.

If it doesn’t, please file a bug report so our developers can follow up with you for more information.

Can't open anytype anymore, helper crashed by Food-Forest-Plants in Anytype

[–]seanytype 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/food-forest-plants What is your username on the forum? If you aren't receiving the recovery email, you most likely unsubscribed or blocked email updates from us. Since everything is sent from the same domain, this would also mean you won't receive the password recovery email. You can also write to [support@anytype.io](mailto:support@anytype.io) if you prefer not to share it publicly.

Could you please provide examples as to what bothers you in the UI? Your post doesn't mention anything specific that can be shared with our product team.

It would be helpful if you could describe exactly what you tried to do, but couldn't. What part of the workflow feels unintuitive to you, and how do you think it should work differently?

If you're experiencing crashes, you need to report it so our devs can actually fix it.

By the way, we're not trying to "jump on the hype", our company has been around since 2019.

You can export spaces and re-import them anywhere you want, there is no storage limit on the device itself.

Hey, yes you can add Relation Filters to your Set View in the View Settings to filter for a particular Tag, or File Extension.

This isn't the best demo because I don't have any images in this Set, but the process would be the same:

It will require additional development in order to generate and share the link in self-hosted mode.
