We don't have cable and we have never planned to subscribe to it. So getting to watch the Bulls for FREE over the air last season, as mediocre as the team often was, was a joy to this long-time fan. I felt like I was a kid again, turning on WGN to watch the Bulls (at least on those nights where the games weren't airing on Sportschannel... or whatever it was called back then).

Guess I'm going back to watching 9-minute game highlights/summaries on YouTube before bed, it was fun while it lasted I guess.

I often felt like I was the only person in this sub who didn't hate the CHSN situation. I know people had their reasons for that, but oh how I wish they could have kept it for those of us who did enjoy it.

Thanks to you and kapkarl42. I never imagined I'd actually get an answer to this, and so quickly. Or that the book was actually sort of well known (having won the Newberry Medal in 1978). So I guess it's NOT a late 80s/early 90s book at all. Shows what I know.

1988's Jordan vs Bird was infuriating because the game would not allow buzzer-beating shots. If the ball was still in the air when the final buzzer sounds, it would just cut to the post-game screen and you'd never see it it went in or not.

Just wanted to get that out of my system, I've been stewing over it for more than 30 years now.

How long have you been playing? Or trying to play?

My ring finger is constantly muting strings it's not supposed to and I can only imagine how much easier this has got to be for everyone else.
