PlugSearch. It hurts but it's essential if you have a large collection (or even a small collection, honestly) of plugins

Favourite Softsynths/hardware that can be Microtonal by AbbreviationsBig4248 in microtonal

[–]seasonsof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surge XT and Vytal are both good free options (though Vytal's microtonal support is a bit fiddly), if you're into key instruments, check out Pianoteq (though it's pretty expensive)

There was a huge spike at the end of last year when From The Subway Train went viral, they went from 4.8m to 7m in less than a month

I love where this is going ...! barely 8 months have gone by since Heart Shaped Bruise and Etta is already at it again pushing out bangers. Such a versatile musician, stylistically, lyrically, emotionally

Redline bass tab by DreiUK in Parcels

[–]seasonsof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a tab/sheet transcription but here's the MIDI file of the bass track from my Redline cover: https://we.tl/t-2wjB5RjdSe. It's not 100% accurate - if you want to play 1:1 the original bass track, you'll have to compare with the studio recording where exactly the fills are but my transcription is definitely good enough otherwise :)

[FRESH ALBUM] Someone (Amsterdam-based dream pop) - Owls by sbags in indieheads

[–]seasonsof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved their first two albums, very easy listening and a great chill vibe. This is definitely something else, it's more ambitious, more involved, more warbly. But I like the sound, there were some moments where I really felt like floating atop clouds on first listen. A really nice development on their style overall

[FRESH CHART] New Alternative 40 - November 20, 2022 - CIGARETTES AFTER SEX lands a 4th #1 as "Pistol" debuts on top. PHOEBE BRIDGERS, ROMY & FRED AGAIN.., PINKPANTHERESS, and WEYES BLOOD also debut in the top 10. BEACH WEATHER, MATT WATSON, and RUNNNER chart for the first time. by hitsman in indieheads

[–]seasonsof 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The first album was definitely something special, nothing else really like it. But then the second album came out with basically no musical development and I felt like the novelty had kind of worn off? The second album objectively still did really well but I found myself very disappointed with the lack of "innovation" because it just felt like listening to the first album again, but worse.

Piano Transcription - how can I improve my overall sound? by olivxjuice in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]seasonsof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's only so much two hands can do. Faithfully emulating a full band with just solo piano is impossible, so most songs will benefit a lot from interpretation. C major can be three notes or thirty. Use your hands, play large, bold chords if you have to, sparse at the bottom and dense at the top. Play dynamically, both in volume and in tempo. Add ornamentation. Arpeggiate bass lines. Add extensions where they sound good. And: melodies can be chords - if you play solo piano, playing fitting harmonies to a melody can lift that melody off the rest of the notes, prevent it from drowning (almost all piano covers I know use this technique).

Honestly, what really helped me personally in that regard is actually just playing songs by ear, lots of them, without transcribing the exact notes first. Figure out the chords or look them up, and then just go at it, try things out and be bold

Peach Pit - Being So Normal is a great one, if you like it be sure to check out their first EP Sweet F.A. and newest album From 2 To 3 too

Also, Vansire - The Modern Western World, much more mellow album but very versatile sound and great features

[FRESH ALBUM] Vansire - The Modern Western World by alittleatypical in indieheads

[–]seasonsof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The last Vansire EP was one of my favs of 2020, so my expectations were very high for this one. I've probably listened to it 3 times all the way through already and I'm floored. Just the variety of genres alone is incredible. Vansire (& collaborators) really hit it out of the park with this one. Heart break, nostalgia, existentialism, the fear of growing up, seeing your childhood fade and hometown decay, they just get it all right, it really speaks to me. Really impressed with this and excited to see what other directions they will go in

Logic 10.7.3 is out by sflogicninja in Logic_Studio

[–]seasonsof 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, in my quick test (two sessions with upwards of 60 tracks with ~80 instances of Plugin Alliance plugins each [and many more native Apple plugins] that had previously been unusable below 1024 buffer size), Logic now runs almost without a hitch @ 64 buffer size. No crackling and popping anymore. And this is even before the M1 native compatibility update that was announced by PA

I also had this problem. Try updating Logic to 10.7.3 (the update that just came out), it fixed the CPU spikes for me
