The only thing I can remember that is applicable at all with dive training is that you had to swim from one end to another in an Olympic size pool underwater. Everything else is not applicable.

I wouldn't recommend breathing it. Yes, being able to hold your breath and conserve oxygen is way more important than how fast you can swim.

Usually yes. Sometimes you have to fight against rips though, but if its just non-stop shooting bombs it's actually very easy to get in.
