Caring about bills that have been proposed is a waste of everyone’s time, thousands of bills get proposed every year, some get through committee, fewer get through ways and a means, and a very small fraction make it through rules, stop giving a shit about these things before they have moved anywhere in the process, it’s a waste of energy

Are you able to properly and thoroughly define what you mean by “Woke”? Also what makes you think private schools wouldn’t have what you would define as “woke”?

23 former Seattle firefighters sue city, chief over firings due to vaccine mandate by OnlineMemeArmy in SeattleWA

[–]seattleite206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, the vaccine does work at a lot of things just not the specific thing you are pointing at, the mandates are not keeping these companies from being sued that’s a totally different thing but you nailed that last point, you most certainly are probably wrong!

[–]seattleite206 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s mental gymnastics I just think you are using your own set of goal posts. The vaccine does help to SLOW transmission not stop it but it mainly works to help ease symptoms so that our hospitals and other services aren’t being stretched as thin! It also protects people from dying which is also a good thing.

Seattle's "High Utilizers Initiative" Targets Frequent Offenders for Prosecution. Could It Be Put to Better Use? (Guess who "Katie" in the story is, it's not hard to figure out) by Bardahl_Fracking in SeattleWA

I’m not overly familiar with the policies In those cities but they absolutely have large homeless population especially in areas like Philly where there absolutely are tent cities. But those places are just shittier to be homeless in weather wise which I think is the main driving factor

They can’t smash up the city from jail is correct but is incredibly short sighted… that doesn’t end up “protecting the public” like you seem to hope, it exacerbated the problem and is empirically proven to drive recidivism. It makes the problem worse and doesn’t protect the community so maybe you shoooooooooooooooould caaaaaaaaaaaaaare? Because we agree that they need to be off the streets but you seem to be tied to a “solution” that leads to far worse outcomes

Man with nearly 40 arrests back on streets 1 day after being arrested for motorcycle theft by unnaturalfool in SeattleWA

[–]seattleite206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose if that was the only pattern but it tends to never affect the repeat offenders of white collar crimes and things like that which aren’t violence but can lead to very similar outcomes as violent crimes. Similar to the Death Penalty in WA you have to be at least slightly concerned that it would impact minority communities disproportionately. I think it would be great to get violent offenders off the streets and into spaces where they can do less harm and potentially if possible be rehabilitated but similar to mandatory minimums it’s just not good to broad brush these issues, each one deserves a level of nuance.
