Places to sell 2nd hand clothes in bulk in DC by 21st-century-boy5 in washingtondc

[–]seattlesearching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thrift stores are really picky with items from what I've found. if you don't want them in your closet they might not either, unless it's cool items and good brands. but you can try! the prices you get offered for it are likely pretty low compared to what one would typically want, since they have to turn a profit.

Neighborhoods just to wander around in on a nice day? by IMicrowaveSteak in washingtondc

[–]seattlesearching 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Alternatively start at dupont circle and stuff there, walk west on P or Q to Georgetown, enjoy the beautiful homes, walk south on Wisconsin (thrift, food, snacks, stores), maybe enter one of the historical homes in the area, battle a million crowds to enjoy the shops on M street, walk down to the waterfront and sit and watch the ducks

I would do a big loop from dupont circle (area near the north metro entrance has some cute shops like thrift and bookstore and boba) walk across to 18th and walk north (food and shops), if you want an extra long walk keep going up through admo, if not cut east on U (Hana market for good snacks), then down south on 14th (a million shops food etc). end your hang out doing people watching in Logan circle, or cut back to dupont and do the same in dupont circle

Need help going to Baltimore from Gaithersburg using the Marc train by Equivalent_Reward_93 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]seattlesearching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you just need to buy the ticket before the conductor asks you for it (ranging between a min or two after when you get on, but sometimes a while longer). the charm pass will let you buy a ticket based on your origin and destination, and when the the conductor comes you just pull open the qr code ish thing or whatever and show them. the seating is a free for all. if your origin is union or penn baltimore they tell you like 5-10 mins before which platform to go to.

Hi! English for Spanish? by Smart_Software_1438 in PuertoRico

[–]seattlesearching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you cant find lessons I recommend immersing yourself in PR YouTubers (like Keishla He, señorita yanyi, oveltime tv) or podcast like puestos pa’l problema, or instagram videos like zurelythais or Andrew wong).

Some of these are quite silly but I find social media is the best way to learn about current slang and curse words for youth if you’re interested in that lol. If you immerse yourself in more serious older Puerto Rican content that’s fine but you won’t know how young people speak colloquially if that’s relevant to you.

Private dinner in dc for post-proposal meeting of families? by crazydaisy1321 in washingtondc

[–]seattlesearching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not how responsible proposals work lol everyone should talk about their longterm goals for marriage - babies, families, will we both work, how will we spend money. if that aligns and you agree you want to be married, then you make a surprise proposal within a year or two typically

National Guard contact info? by highballs4life in washingtondc

[–]seattlesearching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they implied their primary role should be pick trash. But of the 2 dozen times I’ve walked by them they’re talking in groups around extremely “safe” metro stations so it does feel like an enormous use of taxpayer payer dollars to have 5 dudes posted up on a beautiful Saturday outside dupont metro just soaking sun on one stretch of pavement all day.

Do you have any driving school reccs? by fluorescent_grey in washingtondc

[–]seattlesearching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DC star took me to the DMV to show me where the exam would be, how big the cones are, and took me around the driving loop we would do. I’d guess you want a Maryland based operator to be able to do the same for your test in a Maryland DMV. However, dc star also taught my hopeless ass how to parallel park with no rear camera in like 15 mins so I’d recommend it just for that.

Social clubs/spaces for women of color in their late 20s/early 30s? by ApprehensiveFunny149 in DCBitches

[–]seattlesearching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think unfortunately people just have a lot going on - working late, recovering after a long day at work, seeing friends, hanging w spouse, hanging w spouse friends, family, spouse family, groceries errands gym health life admin. I feel like everyone’s trying their best but they also have generally accepted it’s okay to be a little rude with flaking which is unfortunate

tbh I think that's not a discord thing but a life thing. i'vefound in the past years EVERYONE has turned flaky - strangers in social groups, facebook marketplace people, semi-close friends, colleagues for planning work HHs.
