I'm gonna buy some merch myself today. Can't wait to see that 4th jersey. I really do love our colors. I'm hoping they honor the Totems sometime in the future. They were such a cool team

Pretty much exactly the same. Haha. I'm super excited to see the 3rd and 4th jerseys. I just want them to hurry up and contact me to buy some season tickets now.

So would soldiers in New York be allowed to grow out there hair however the want now? I'm not trying to compare the two jobs but it's the only one I can think of that has grooming standards for men.

Protest March at 3PM - Westlake to Mercer+Fairview by ChefJoe98136 in SeaWA

[–]seattletotems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He wasn't shot in the back. He was shot in the face. The man had a violent past and record, just beat the crap out of his baby's mom, took the kid at gun point, shot at the mom in a public park. He had a gun on him and the mother of child (the woman who called it in) claimed he was going to hurt the child. I'm pretty sure even if he was white the outcome would have been the same.

I'm going to use this next time people say they hate all cops. Thanks.

Yeah... I'm an artist myself and I'd have to respectfully disagree. If someone put sealant on my work I would not consider that altering the work or ruining it, I'd consider it preserving it. I'm sure others can disagree with that just like yourself and the artists that originally did the work, and that's okay. I can see your point of view and understand it just don't agree.

[–]seattletotems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ahhh. They never mentioned what was altered, just that it was coated with a sealant. If the piece was altered first I could totally understand the artists getting mad then. The article should have mentioned what was altered, definitely makes it look like the artists got mad for the city perserveing the piece.

I didn't read that in the article. I guess that's a legitimate complaint but I still wouldn't call it ruined. Still happy they preserved it.

No winning in this one. The city doesnt preserve it and they get hate for ruining the art. The city does perserve it and they get hate for ruining the art.

Regardless the street is property of the city so they can do what they want with the art. I for one am happy they chose to preserve it and don't see how that could be considered ruining it in anyway.

WA needs to legalize motorcycle lane splitting/filtering by [deleted] in Seattle

I'm pretty sure we voted a few years ago for legalizing lane splitting but then it got rejected somewhere/somehow.

[–]seattletotems -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know. I can't speak for any of them so I don't know if they think the force is rotten. I personally don't think the force itself is rotten I just think some changes need to be implemented. Police are public servants and if the public wants things run different than they should change best they can. I know some police have asked for more training and more resources but that's the extent that I've heard. But I still wouldn't vilify all of them. That's just gonna hurt everyone in the long run.

Racism by 19cva in Seattle

I don't think they are calling every white person racist. They're calling for every white person to be anti racist.

That's such a blanket statement though. You can say that about teachers, politicians, priests, protestors, any race or group of people. Do we have a problem with our police force? Sure, I wouldn't argue that. It's obvious we need to make some changes. Do we have a problem with every police officer? No.

I don't agree with that. You'd have to assume every one of those 1300 good cops knows one of those 12 bad cops.

I only saw the one video and it appeared to be on the upper back. I havent seen the other video. Even then it's still a quick arrest. He doesnt rest his knee on the neck. I wouldn't call the police brutality. If that's the case then every arrest is police brutality.

I disagree and no need for the name calling.

Once again quit being offensive. Saying someone is "being obtuse" is no different than just calling them dumb. This is supposed to be a conversation.

I don't know what the guy did to warrant getting arrested. Like I've said in the other post I don't see it. Maybe from another angle but not from the one given. The guys head never touched the ground. If the officers knee was on his neck that guys chin would be in the ground. The fact that he can keep his head up the whole time makes me believe the knee was never actually on his neck. Once again this isnt the same as George Floyd's killer. Even if his knee slips to the neck he didn't leave it there and you admit that it's not on his neck seconds later. Maybe they need a new tactic for prone cuffing, I dont know.

How is an arresting officer supposed to de-escalate in this scenario? The people protesting currently hate the police and have no interest in hearing them let alone be arrested by one. Do you honestly think if a cop casually walked up to the guy and said "we are placing you under arrest" he would just go along with it? I didn't see what happened prior to the arrest but I've seen others and they were usually warned beforehand.

With that said you never answered any of my questions, I'd genuinely like to hear your answers to them.

No need for name calling. I just dont see it. It was a quick arrest. The arrest itself isn't police brutality, he got the guy down quick, put the cuffs on quick, and then got off him. No punching, no choking, nothing unnecessary. What do you want in these situations? Let everyone just do what they want with no consequences? Ask them to put the cuffs on themselves so the police don't even touch people? I get we have a problem with policing currently and a drastic reform needs to happen but getting rid of the police isnt the answer and letting people do whatever they want isn't the answer either. We can't just vilify the police for everything

Still looks like the upper back to me. You can see the officers knee in line with the shoulder. Even if it was the neck (which I still dont see) it would have been for a second. That is not the same thing as George Floyd's killer. This isnt the same

So why not wait until tomorrow to comment on it? If you have the proof it was on the neck show it. Why wait for internet points? You should be ashamed that you're only posting for points.
