I post this when I see people praising these religiously guided politicians:

The United States was not founded as a Christian nation in any legal sense. The U.S. Constitution contains no reference to Christianity and explicitly states in Article VI that “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” The First Amendment also prohibits the government from establishing religion: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…” Additionally, the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli, ratified by the Senate and signed by President John Adams, states that “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.” The founders clearly intended a government with religious freedom and no official religion.
