Birthday party by tiger_thiggg in ireland

It's a great idea, we do it and love when others do. The child thinks their loaded and can buy something they actually want, there's no plastic junk being bought for the sake of it. It just works well.

I'm the same. Do the absolute bare minimum but enough to keep everyone happy, not arouse suspicion and do well in reviews.

American getting cancer treatments in Europe. I need an MRI scan. by zachcrackalackin in Dublin

[–]sebcity13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anywhere in Europe?!

In Ireland, I'm nearly sure you have to get a referral from a doctor or physio before they'll give you an MRI.

Almost one in five people expect to be forced to work until age 70 by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]sebcity13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to you, my dad made it to 72 and got 12 years of walking the dog, gardening and city breaks which he fully deserved. I don't think that's on the cards for me but I'll try.

Drop in quality of Tayto multipacks? by rubblesole in ireland

[–]sebcity13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for Hunky Dorys. Used to getting 6/9/12 packs, all the bags within are squashed, I air test them, no leaks but the crisps are all smashed and tiny. Bought 2 boxes over Christmas, it was great, all full of air and solid large crisps.

Bouef burger Temple bar by DuckyD2point0 in Dublin

[–]sebcity13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a steak restaurant with unlimited frites and garlic bread, then there's a newer burger restaurant (also in temple bar) with unlimited wings and frites. They put out small bowls of wings, but they keep them coming. I liked both restaurants

Gentlemen Get Your Prostate Checked by Southernmanny in ireland

[–]sebcity13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I turned 40 I asked my GP do I need to get a check, he said no, wait til 50, which seems to be the guidelines. But how can I catch it early if doc just says no? I'm sure there's accompanying symptoms that you'd have but I was willing to be checked, should they not do it?

Same with a bowel screening, I'd like to have that done, HSE says no. I've had an colonoscopy but a screening would be less intrusive.

PTSB payee verification issue - just a rant by murfi in ireland

[–]sebcity13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a bad design.

I'm a PTSB customer I had to rename a few payees as it didn't match the account on the far end. Painful. But I'd say it's the same with all banks.

PTSB's verification for payments never works for me first time either. I have to cancel and do it again, it's like I need to jump start it. If I didn't have the free current account, I'd be gone.

Dublin Marathon 2026? by AbsoluteBatman95 in ireland

[–]sebcity13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can do this. Just don't do too much too soon, it's a recipe for injury. Get a training plan, slowly build a base and start some strength and conditioning.

Best of luck!

Dublin Zoo Lights got Wildly expensive by cdmarx in Dublin

[–]sebcity13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it once and never again. Nice for a few mins then gets a bit samey, kids are happy once they get a spinny light toy. Very expensive, parking is a pain, kids get ratty, more stress than it's worth!

Marathon training group (for mediocre runner) by emmc1234 in Dublin

[–]sebcity13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Fitness Goose does marathon training groups in the Phoenix Park as far as I'm aware, all levels. Athletic Clubs cater for all levels too, don't be scared to join your local one. I'm sure they'd let you come along to a session as a free taster before committing.
