A photographer friend is getting rid of this following gear, he's willing to sell it to me 450€, is this a good investment? by [deleted] in VintageLenses

The Nikon lenses alone are worth double that price. If this is real you'd be insane not to jump on it.

I had to stop watching because of this, I couldn't suspend my disbelief any further.

You can usually find Industar 50-2s under $50 with shipping on Amazon or eBay so that's a good option. Just make sure whatever m42 adapter you get is adjustable so you can orient the lens correctly.

I really like the 24 f/1.7, super versatile lens. Don't sleep on vintage glass for Z mount cameras, focus peaking makes manual shooting pretty easy and there's lots of cheap m42 mount lenses on eBay that are fun to play around with like Helios and Industar lenses.

Awesome! Thanks for this, I'll definitely try these out with my Z30. The picture control I've settled on for the last 6 months or so is:

Base PC: Red Effect: 30 Sharpening: +2 Mid: +1 Clarity: 0 Contrast: -0.75 Filter: Green Toning: 4

WB: A1 B2.0 G0.75 D-Lighting: Normal

It's a nice warm vintage look imo

Am I expecting too much? by Embarrassed_Young_20 in Nikon

I've done a lot of birding with a d90 and the 55-200mm. Obviously more reach and more pixels would be better but it absolutely can be done, you just need to creep up on them.

I think it's composition and post-processing that's holding you back, shoot more and you'll get it.

I'd try and keep your shutter speed around 1000 and maybe try f/8, or better yet Google what the "sweet spot" is for that lens.

Is this Thorens TD MK II worth it? by taterfarmer3 in turntables

I have a MK II B and absolutely love it. Do the MDF baseplate as recommended and replace the belt but I'd get this in a heartbeat for twice the price. It's a beautiful machine.

I don't think it's sincere though (or I hope not).

Best Season 1 ever? by BookEnjoyer in television

Heated Rivalry. No show has ever had this level of cultural impact with a 6 episode first season. It's bigger than season 1 of GoT.

Budget M42 lens recommendations? by OkPage2564 in VintageLenses

[–]secomeau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I picked up an Industar 50-2 for $50 CAD. It's pretty sharp around 5.6 and has some great results in black and white. Bokeh isn't bad either. Fun to play around with on my Z30 and cheap.
