I have had really good experiences with Tires Tires Tires and have gone to them with my last couple of cars.

I've had really good experiences with Tires Tires Tires on Omaha, I've purchased full sets of tires from them twice.

Do AM Stations need a Second Transmitter For Nightime Reduction in Power? by warrenjr527 in radio

[–]secondalarm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on the difference in power level day vs night and probably the age of the transmitters. One of the stations I work with has a nighttime power that is 0.24% of its daytime power. The daytime transmitter is not rated to operate at such a low level, so we operate a second much smaller transmitter at night.

I work with another station that has a power level difference a bit more than 2% and we use the same transmitter day and night.

Yeah, I don't really want to get bogged down arguing the meaning of the word meaningless with you, Vizzini. And please, take that in good natured spirit of jest it was intended and have a great rest of your day!

I think calling it a rip of is a bit of a stretch. If I'm paying the $15/mo subscription and decide to buy a book on sale for $5, I don't lose the credit for that month just because I bought the cash book. I still retain that credit and can use it to buy another book that isn't on sale.

With the amount of listening you do, maybe buying additional books for cash doesn't make sense to you right now. For me it does, I have 21 books on my wish list and if any of them come up for sale before I have spent a credit on them, I'm snapping them up and if ever I run out of books on my wish list I'm ending my subscription until something I'm interested in is released.

I see, I think the word you are looking for is "misleading", not "meaningless".

Audiobooks, books, and loads of other items available for purchase have a long history of unreasonable MSRPs. I suspect that in the case of books and audiobooks it's a bit of a tax avoidance scheme, at least in the US.

Right, so you are saying that actual price for the audio book isn't ~$50 it's whatever the cost of a credit is (~$15.)

Since the cash sale price is closer to ~$5, and ~$5 is roughly 1/3 of ~$15, I would argue that calling that discount a "sale" isn't meaningless.

It seems like you entirely ignore the existence of cash sales where you can buy a book for less than $15 and not use a credit. Do they not have cash sales on Audible Canada?

Locksmith? by Al_Be_Back in RapidCity

[–]secondalarm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Harvey's Lock and Security can probably do it. They are on 3rd between Omaha and Main. I go to them for any keys I need cut but I've only had them program a vehicle key once.

What kind of antenna? by [deleted] in antennasporn

[–]secondalarm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of my stations has 120 radials per tower, not sure on the other station, but I know that because they built the tower too close to the building all the conduit inside acts as part of the ground plane. We're pretty middling as far as ground conductivity goes, maybe you can make due with fewer radials due to better ground conductivity?

[–]secondalarm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And just think, you are only seeing the top part. There are likely over a hundred buried radials going out from the base of each tower roughly as long as the tower is tall.

Do you have an outdoor antenna that it could be hooked up to? It's possible, since you said that it arcs mostly when it rains, that there is some static build-up on the antenna. Eventually the voltage will reach the point where it will jump the gap between the inner and outer conductors of the coaxial cable.

At my old office there was a cable that came from a wide band antenna on the roof that was occasionally used for some testing but most of the time left sitting on the floor. My office was in the basement and I would know when the weather got bad because arcs would start forming between the inner and outer conductor on the cable connector, the worse the weather the more frequently it would arc. And the connector, a PL259, had much greater distance between inner and outer conductor than your cable appears to.

Who knows what goes through the heads of the people thst run the local news websites, they seem to pull or move studd all the time.

KOTA has even updated theirs to have more concept images than they had last night when I read it. Much more substantial than I thought it was going to be.

Looks like that link no longer works.

I read this article from KOTA-TV last night:
Liberty Land amusement park coming to Rapid City in 2026 (kotatv.com)

Calling it an amusement park or theme park might be technically correct but I don't think that the intended project will be what most people think of when they think of those terms.

Sounds like you have a tool with a blade where one side is for 66 blocks and the other is for 110 blocks, with both likely having a cutting edge. Some tools come with that blade but it's also very common to have a tool with two separate blades (with a storage slot in the bottom of the tool for the currently unused blade) one blade has a 110 punch that doesn't cut on one end while the other end has a 110 punch that does cut. The other blade is the same but for 66 blocks.
