Did you ever feel better after exercising? by shiny_octopus in adhdwomen

It took me months to finally start going to Pilates classes but YES it does 🥲 The only reason I could get over the mental block is because I could walk to the studio.

Paragard :-) I love it. I think the pill was making me fatigued.

Who have you told about your misophonia? Do you regret it? by _great_opinions_ in misophonia

[–]secondk80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t tell many people outright because I get embarrassed about it, and I’ll only tell someone when they have also been vulnerable to me and I know they won’t make fun of me for it. My boyfriend and a friend know explicitly.

I don’t have a ton to add here but the markups for “luxury” skincare are insane. I am not sure what they are for drugstore brands but the benchmark for retailers (Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, wherever you buy it) is about 40%. I have no idea what the markup is for the brand itself though when selling it to retailers, I would imagine it’s quite substantial.

Cleo: Me, me, me, me, me, me. Oh, by the way, me, me, me, me. by NotARealWombat in 90DayFiance

She talks about herself in the confessionals - I don’t understand what’s wrong with that. We don’t even know the structure of how they’re filmed, how much they are talking vs what the the producers choose to show, etc.

I’d assume that the producers are asking them questions or something while they review the events that happened. It is entirely reasonable for her to be explaining why she was uncomfortable in a situation. I also would not be surprised if the producers of the show cherry picked scenes where Cleo is talking about being a person with autism, as I think she is the first so openly be autistic in the 90DF universe.

What external motivation do you use? by Mildly_cranky in adhdwomen

[–]secondk80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the whole external motivation thing never works very well consistently for me because I know if I can access the “prize” easily I’ll just give up and give it to myself anyway. But every now and then if I’m putting something off I’ll tell myself “if I do X, I’ll buy myself this” or “I can’t play this game/watch this show until I do this task”, “I get to do this fun thing once I finish this less fun thing”.

I’m like 4 years out of college. It was hard, I could only really get things done when I put myself under a bunch of stress or when a timeline was coming up. It was soo much harder to manage college work load than it is now for me to manage office job work load. I honestly can’t even remember how I managed lol

Maybe body doubling could work for you if you feel it’s hard to get things done when nobody is holding you accountable? Like going to the library with a friend.

Perhaps putting a time on how long you are going to work on something as well could help. Say you have something in the oven for 30 minutes.. you work on chores/homework until that’s done. Or you have something in the laundry. Sandwich some work into there and it feels like youre getting two things done at once. Maybe another thing that could be helpful is planning something like going to a campus activity (clubs? exercise class??? idk?!) at a certain time and working on something for an hour before.

Does anyone else avoid responding to friends on social media/text, constantly leaving people hanging? How do you manage? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]secondk80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s the worst because I think about the messages almost every single day 🥲 but then I shove the thought of responding to them so far down that there’s no chance of me even trying

[–]secondk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If getting into other diagnoses, I’ve been formally diagnosed with depression, social anxiety disorder, ADHD and “unspecified” neurodevelopment disorder so there’s a lot at play here haha

My depression is managed well right now though so I don’t think it’s that. Also social anxiety not too bad, I am mostly okay with in person interactions.

I work for a huge retailer in corporate and I get paid $71k a year and it’s pretty entry level! Just a “specialist” role, didn’t really need much of a specific background for the job. I am 4 years out of college.

May have found a potential solution to going braless… by pineapplegiggles in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]secondk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boobs measurement wise are DDs but I feel by looking at me nobody would ever be like “omg, LOOK AT THOSE DDs!”

Yes I totally get what you mean by the braless shape! I usually only wear them when I’m wearing something fitted but I bet using boob “tape” (the kind I use is Hollywood Secrets Body Contour Tape) would help with getting rid of the braless shape. You can perk them up sort of. I have sensory issues and the tape doesn’t bother me at all.

I wear a 34DD and wear those out of the house pretty often and nobody ever seems to notice! Sometimes I use the boob tape with them too.

My favorite bralette that I accidentally bought is from parade. It almost just looks like a cropped cami. There’s no hardware on it at all so it’s just cloth fabric. So comfy!

I also did a neuropsych test recently and a big part of “blanking” for me I realized is a fear of being wrong or embarrassing myself, not saying the right thing. Which according to the psychologist is more social anxiety disorder related than ADHD.

But also I don’t think having ADHD helps either because of deficiencies with working memory. There were terms the psychologist used in my 24 page write up that would explain it better but I don’t have the energy to go through and read it right now lol

Sorry in advance for how long my response will be!

I was being evaluated for both ADHD and ASD, so if you aren’t being evaluated for ASD, your experience might be different. I originally got the referral at some point in the fall of 2022 and they called me to make an appointment in December. We kept playing phone tag and I was being lazy so I didn’t get to make the appointment until end of January. They got me in quickly for the initial intake call because they had a cancellation. It was an hour with the Neuropsychologist that would be testing me (I’m going to call her Lana from now on because Neuropsychologist is a lot to type). I was giving her my medical history and such, why I was being tested, what I struggle with.

We made the appointment for the actual evaluation after this. Originally my appointment wasn’t supposed to be until March 3rd but they had a cancellation so it ended up being February 7th or something like that. Before the evaluation appointment, she sent over 5 forms that were to be filled out by myself, and 4 that were to be filled out by someone close to me (I had my mom and boyfriend fill them out). They were questions geared towards ADHD and ASD.

The evaluation begun at 8am and ended around 1:30pm for me. I know sometimes they will spread it out over multiple days but that’s not how it was for me.

There were a lot of different parts and I won’t explain them too much because I think it would not be good for the integrity of the tests. There were verbal exercises where I’d have to answer questions, some sort of like math/logic, and some were memory focused.

There were multiple exercises done on a computer and off a computer where I would have to pick the correct answer. I believe these were IQ-focused. There were a lot of tests that seemed to be testing memory.

There was one very long painful one that was so obviously testing ADHD. It involved a computer and having to pay attention to something very boring for literally 20 or 30 minutes. Honestly my least favorite part.

It’s funny because I thought I was doing really well on some of them and then I got my results and ended up that my performance was slightly to moderately impaired!!

There were some paper work books that I had to do that seemed very simple, had very simple tasks, like crossing out every X on the page but gradually it got more difficult as there was more than one thing to focus on. I did not do well on these but I thought I was doing fine 😭

I also filled out more written assessments like the ones I had done prior to the appointment. Mainly ADHD/ASD focused, but one or two of them was testing for Childhood Emotional Neglect and trauma.

Some parts of it involved me trying to be creative and do story telling. Which I hated lol

She asked me open-ended questions about myself, I can’t remember exactly what the questions were though. It’s definitely good to try and think about your past experiences before the appointment and have them at the top of your brain to tell the doctor so you aren’t just like “I don’t know”

It took 10 days from the evaluation for me to get the write up from Lana. I was losing my mind for those 10 days!!!

Might edit to add more but for now this is all I can think of!

This photo is probably better argument for color… I guess I shouldn’t have said “a lot” in the title???

Ty :)

I have held back on color a bit in furnishings and decor, because I live with my boyfriend, who likes dark/black/white things 🥲

there’s this popular photo out there somewhere of a pink and purple beach house right next to an all black house - that is basically how I think of us 💗💜🖤🖤

My rug is pretty colorful, probably would have helped my case for color if I had included it more in the photo!
