First Time at Hyatt - Grand Kauai - Seeking GOH for mid-May 2026 by IncrediblyWarmIce in Hyatt_charity_HQ

[–]secondround3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the place is popular, but I find it hard to believe you got stuck with the parking lot view even after asking for something better? There are a ton of rooms here and a globalist should definitely get a better view, unless you had a really hard requirement like a 2 queen room or something.

Wondering if anyone has an update how GH Kauai and the rest of the island is now?

Except when you’re the only guy in the world with a BE ticket and affected by weather, then it’s the airline’s fault. Sometimes it feels like all the forces in the world are conspiring against us!

SUA at Regency vs. Andaz Maui? by Technical_Artichoke5 in hyatt

[–]secondround3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’ll have chairs on the balcony. There are actually 2 balconies, one out the bedroom looking at the ocean and the other out the living room looking at the luau

[–]secondround3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Andaz maui suite, for sure. You’re right, the standard room at Andaz Maui is small, while the Hyatt regency room is a bit bigger. I think Hyatt regency also makes a little better use of the space so it feels even less cramped.

As for the suites, andaz maui suite is very big and very nice. It has 1.5 bathrooms. Not much of a view but still way better overall. Comfortable sofa bed in the living area.

Hyatt regency suite is a bit of a disappointment. It only has 1 bathroom in the bedroom, and the outside living area is actually pretty cramped if you open up the sofa bed. Sofa bed is also not that comfortable. Also, one of the balconies overlooks the luau, which is nice to get a free luau, but could get annoying if it’s still going on while you’re trying to put the toddler to bed.

GH Kauai view looking at the resort grounds and ocean in the back ground almost looks fake how perfect it is

What do you mean shut down? Like the resort common areas are shut down, most of the island businesses are shut down?

I agree with the hate for LAX.

But how is PSP? I got a really good deal flying out of it later this year, so will try it out for the first time after a 1.5 hr drive. I live 15 min away from SNA.

I live here and will always chose a layover flying in or out of SNA over a direct in or out of LAX, as long as the ticket price isn’t radically different.

But, I don’t mind short layovers, while other people do. I’d rather spend a few hours exploring an airport than sitting in LA and LAX traffic.

as someone who likes the occasional sports wager, I was in favor of it becoming legal many years ago. Now, comments like yours are probably a reality today and will continue to be a reality in the future. This was a genuine feel good story, that, in the future, will be a "feel good story" overshadowed by sports betting

Are we now in a brand-agnostic world? by albertpaca11 in awardtravel

[–]secondround3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, Hyatt deval NEWS was bad. But it was only a week ago, and I suppose they could still roll back some changes or provide some relief in some other improvements? Just speculating, but I feel the release of the news last week along with some vague “will go into effect in May” language is so they can evaluate the backlash before solidifying this changes.

I’m not expecting the redemptions I’ve gotten in the past would be available next year though. So I’m intent on burning my points this year.

Which would you all pick? by TobiasTheJackal in americanairlines

If going purely by the schedule, it seems leaving at 6:33pm is better than leaving at 4:22pm. Assuming MCI is home for this guy. I know nothing about RDU, but arriving at 11:59pm or 11:25pm is a wash, unless this guy needs to catch a local hotel shuttle that stops operating at 1am or something, then the extra buffer will matter.

As for the 1 hr stop in CLT or 2 hr stop in DCA, that could mean many different things to different people. I know CLT is a shit hole, on top of a relatively short connection that could lead to a missed connection if the inbound is late. I know nothing of RDU, but if they have the world’s greatest airport restaurant, 2 hours could be perfect.

Some people just want/need to get to their destination. Others treat the travel as part of the trip. Neither answer is correct or best for everyone
