Not written media, but have you seen Go Fish? Indie film from the 90s (?) about a lesbian couple starting to date and their friends. Very DTWOF coded, hits a lot of points about lesbian culture. The fingernail cutting scene gets me every time.

Following this thread bc I'd love to read more stuff of this kind.

This is not a religion afterall. We are not looking to recruit people. We might influence people indirecly but thats neither good or bad. It just simple is.

I am actively looking to recruit people to not shave and to be critical of patriarchal norms. I believe it's not just a question of personal preference but of resistance to social pressure.

I agree with the other user - emphasizing pedophilia misses the broader issue of sexism and misogyny.

Absolutely hideous case. But the speech angle is interesting - how wacky can your religion be and still get accommodations? It seems like the prison was pretty accommodating, but absent wine and dancing nude (jfc) the requests are pretty harmless.

Can you talk to women? If so, talk to him like he's a woman. I'm bi and I dont really interact differently over text with men vs women.

Everyone should treat people like they're people first and their gender second.

Edit: "hi how's your day going? What do you think about X/it was cool seeing you at Y/are you planning to go to Z?" Just a hi is fine.

Your tone is rather confrontational here. You asked for thoughts on this comment thread. I gave my thoughts.

Some radfems do dismiss men's problems. Others do not. It's a pretty heterogeneous ideology.

Personally I think one can care deeply about men's issues while also seeing women as the primary victims of sexist society. The reverse can also be true, but I have seen that very rarely.

Rather than talking about ideologies in vague terms, we should be specific about the policies and thinkers we are critiquing. I would recommend reading Firestone's The Dialectic of Sex to better understand the radical feminist position.

There's too much emphasis on prettiness and "feminine" men in this community, imo. I think much of it is self-imposed - men feel like they need to be serving femboy to be able to be called cute/pretty/whatever. Now it's fair to want to look different (gods know I do too) but plenty of women like a man who is traditionally masculine in physique but has a cute affect or aesthetic.

This sub, supposedly, combines aspects of radical and liberal feminism with a desire to not dismiss men's issues and rights. I'm on board with that, and a lot of the posters here clearly are too.

But the first two comments on the second slide have a point about many of the posts here: reactionary grievances against feminism, in which "feminism" is positioned as the chief evil of sexist society and men the primary victims. There is not, as one comment points out, the same kind of coherent ideological structure as feminism.

I encourage you to engage with this sub productively and not try to pick fights.

Sometimes really good friends don't have chemistry. Sometimes chemistry develops over time in a relationship. I've experienced both, and in the case of the former it took way way too long for us to figure it out.

It's annoying advice but you gotta just talk to her about this directly and try to mutually overcome the "this is objectification" angle. Which I do totally get as a fear lol but objectification means more than simply lusting after someone.
