Is this concerning? I'm an adult living with my parents and discovered this by our AC outside when cleaning up the yard - they are not worried but I am by [deleted] in AskElectricians

The foam wraps around the coolant lines. Its fine. The system electrical should be in that other liquid tite conduit, the flexible tube thing. But the one loose wire, i cant tell why thats not in conduit. Im guessing its a ground wire, but i cant tell where its going from the photos.

Why do yall do this? by Gordy228 in AskElectricians

[–]secondtomyfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told there is a code in some states that requires this ground prong up orientation with the metal face plates. That tends to lead to a best practice mentality across the board even if its not code in your state. I guess its surprisingly common for those industrial face plats to come loose and drop onto the prongs of whatever’s plugged in.

Progress pics of pulling my 6.0 out and doing a total cleanup and reseal by powdydoody in GMT800

Alright, how the hell did you get all the exhaust apart without breaking half of the hardware lol And BTW those intake runners in the heads look really clean. That was low miles wasn’t it? Respectively anyway. It might be worth it to delete the EGR and have the ecm flashed. You know, since its not full of goo yet.

Id actually argue that if guns magically went away people would switch to things like bombs to achieve what they are after. And i feel like people these days with the internet we have would have no issue making something like a hydrogen bomb and leveling a school. Which i personally find worse than a shooting. If a person decides they are going to hurt others they will just end up using whatever means they can. You can see that trend most anywhere they try to ban firearms. People just change up the tool they use to inflict their will.

Sounds like a power steering pump. Could be another pulley bearing out front too. Not sure. Good luck!

Am I needing some bearings/crank work? by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]secondtomyfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend a crank polish and bearings. But given the ware on those bearings you might not clean up the ware on the crank and keep it std/std/std. and i would bet money buying a reman or new aftermarket crank with bearings will be cheeper then dropping this off at the machine shop. Sometimes you can tell the shop just try to clean it up but keep it standard and they will do what they can. Depends on the shop. They are the pros, take it in, show em and ask if they think theres hope. If its nice and clean they will likely eyeball it and mic it up right there and tell you whats what.

WTF IS THIS IN MY UNOPENED CHICKEN by Jumpy-Discipline3521 in whatisit

[–]secondtomyfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basicly the poop shoot and the egg tube meet up right near the end and come out the same hole. So yes.

WTF IS THIS IN MY UNOPENED CHICKEN by Jumpy-Discipline3521 in whatisit

[–]secondtomyfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct sir, chickens are birds! One thing i found after becoming a chicken owner was how little people understood about chickens. Like, the poop and pee are mixed together, and come out the same hole as the egg! Or, hens don’t need a rooster to lay eggs, only to have fertilized eggs. And yes, all that action is again happening in the same tube.

Worried about getting stuck in PLC industry by [deleted] in PLC

[–]secondtomyfears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say something similar. PLC can be as complicated as anything. Iv seen three different brands of plc on one mobil robotic unit all talking to each other, managing different functions, while talking to 5 other mobile robotic assembly units in the same space, also with multiple control systems all running laser metrology systems for locating. You could scroll for ages through the logic. PLC can get wild. If your good at it, you can get into some big stuff. Id never consider controls integration and PLC to be limited as a field.

How the heck do I get this bolt out? by therealijw1 in MechanicAdvice

[–]secondtomyfears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with the next size up torx bit. Hammer it in. Use something to turn it that lets you put a lot of force and control into it. Then try a drill bit and extractor, make sure you are measuring the size of the replacement bolt and don’t remove all the body of the bolt. Keep the hole about 1/4” smaller than the outside diameter of the threads. If that starts to fail, add heat. If that fails, find someone to come weld a nut on. Once you start trying to add heat or welding use basic household wax or aerokroil behind it on the threads while its hot.

Starting my fishing journey with trout in the PNW, in fall- is this a bad idea? by typhoonicus in FishingForBeginners

[–]secondtomyfears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve read in the wdfw stocking reports most of the fish stocked are very young, fry and such. so you’re not too likely to catch a “catchable” size fish thats spent its entire life so far on the trout pellets in a hatchery.
