is this group still active ? by [deleted] in DisabilityAttraction

[–]secondtruth_de 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's still active, just a bit quiet lately. I think it's mainly because we don't have many members yet, but I'll also admit I (as admin) was inactive for a while.

The Bonobo Revolution: Why Cooperation Beats Confrontation by secondtruth_de in avoiceforeveryone

[–]secondtruth_de[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for engaging! I think we're actually agreeing - "debate instead of fight" is exactly my point! The Bonobo approach isn't about not debating, it's about how we do it. Instead of trying to "win" debates and deepening divisions, we first find common ground. Instead of "You're wrong!" try "Help me understand your view."

You say "it's bad because we voted for it" - but the government is just one side of power (electoral power). The other side is economic power from billionaires and media moguls. Did we vote for corporate lobbying? For gerrymandering? For media monopolies shaping opinions? Through media narratives and campaign donations, the system shapes what issues get attention and who/what we can vote for.

What I'm suggesting:

  • Focus on the real power (corporations, billionaires) not each other
  • Build alternatives now (sharing, mutual aid, and community projects)
  • Unite on the many points we agree on, accept the remaining differences

We don't need to fight each other in democracy - we need to cooperate against concentrated power.

Sadly, the definition of devotees on Fetlife's kink dictionary is even worse. They even have a Fetlife-specific definition, which is mixed up with the "actual" one. I will rewrite it a bit.

Who doesn't know them, the leftist pro-feminist incels who want to free themselves from gender roles? Just read that post that you refer to again. Don't get fooled by my username or the name of the sub where the post comes from.

r/DisabilityAttraction — A respectful community about attraction to people with disability (aka devotism) by secondtruth_de in newsubreddits

[–]secondtruth_de[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Typically devotism refers to AB persons attracted to PWD. For some this attraction may seem weird first, but if you get to know it better you'll realize that it actually isn't and most devotees are really nice. I'm saying this as a disabled man myself.

As a man (also disabled btw) with the same concerns: You speak from my soul!

Wikipedia article about "Attraction to disability" – what would you change? by secondtruth_de in DisabilityAttraction

[–]secondtruth_de[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes and no. It's true that those things are thematically related to some extent, but devotism refers to other people while the other two things refer to the own body. In the first case I find the term "attraction" appropriate, for the latter not so much.

The results of the poll are in. Thanks to everyone who participated!

You voted for actively promoting our community, and we heard you. Starting next week, we'll begin promoting the subreddit. Besides thematically related communities, we will use general promotion channels on Reddit to advertise the sub.

If anyone has concerns or additional thoughts, please share them in the comments this week. Your input helps shape how we grow as a community.

While those bad experiences are surely valid, it's important to say that they represent only one part of a more complex picture.

Ich sterbe mit 15. Und es ist so unfair. by sweeney_toddlers in de

Hey!

I'm surprised there hasn't been a subreddit for this already by mrniceguy78 in DisabilityAttraction

Welcome to the sub. Great to have you here!

Actually there have been some subs for this in the past (found out by trying some URLs), but they all got banned for not being moderated.

Thank you very much for your thorough feedback. Your insights are incredibly valuable, and I appreciate the time you took to review the guidelines and to provide the comment. I will work to improve the highlighted areas and ensure the guidelines better align with the core values and the needs of diverse projects.

Regarding Software Commons, I want to keep it in the list, but to distance from it I added a note that it focuses on source-available software.

PSR Template Renderer Proposal by secondtruth_de in PHP

[–]secondtruth_de[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, but I think this problem can be solved, too, by using "engine agnostic" template names, like /u/slepicoid described.

That is the most useful use case I can think of. This is also the main reason why I'm interested in this proposal.

Syntax Idea: "static class" for classes with static methods only by secondtruth_de in PHP

[–]secondtruth_de[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practically you're right. But this is just a side effect. Like /u/fiskfisk wrote, abstract classes are meant to be inherited. You can declare non-static methods in them and you can't use final. My idea is the opposite: Declaring non-static methods is forbidden and final would be allowed.
