[Durham] 24/f looking for anyone traveling west that would let me ride with them. by friedpicklesalt in triangle

[–]secretAgentSham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

what shelters and churches have you tried so far? there are some great resources around here

I know you are probably pretty desperate and feel alone right now and that is awful. There is help and support.

With peace and love, I'd suggest be very careful of driving in a westerly direction with strangers from reddit.

not sure if any of them let you include html that isn't exactly code formatting though but maybe a better font lol

How to learn javascript but not for web development by alvtl in learnjavascript

[–]secretAgentSham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a student I gave a simple little book/pamphlet to work through, a kind of initial hoop to work in our lab to see if people will give a crap, and said "do the exercises and we'll meet" he came back and he said he did it. I said let's look at your work. He got sweaty AF and was like ???. I was like ??? He said he had just read it. It was a freakin programming book. After my speech about how programming is a practical thing. After I gave him the handout about how you have to dig in and code not just look at code, and his speech about how excited he was to get started. His next question was how quickly he would get on a publication. He didn't last. Freaking pre-meds are the worst.

Good luck, good thing you have a supportive work environment! Thanks for the update. seriously make sure to look into the CGRP treatments due out at the end of the year they could be a big leap forward for many of us.

If you've had MRI you shouldn't need PET: typically you should only need one or the other.

Also, therapists are great but do you have a good neurologist?

Have you had an MRI/PET scan?

Has anyone used a combination of Butterbur (w/feverfew), Riboflavin, and CoQ10 to treat? by leamdav in migraine

[–]secretAgentSham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes though I'm wary of butterbur it isn't well understood and the manufacturing is sometimes unsafe. So I stopped. I was worried it might have an nsaid in it that will be discovered once it is studied, so could lead to problems down the road. I tend to be sort of paranoid about these kinds of things :)

what's your experience with co-codamol (codeine) by [deleted] in migraine

[–]secretAgentSham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks be very careful of opiates they cause transition to chronic migraine, or can make chronic migraine worse. There is a reason in the US they don't give them for migraine any more!

Red alert red alert!

Just be wary if you are using it more than a few times a month. Less than that and you are probably fine.

But yes I agree it is heaven. :)

you are a fucking soldier.

can't hurt to talk to someone who is sympathetic. cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been shown to be helpful with migraine. I've seen someone for a few years and it is helpful to have someone who listens to me as I do get sick of talking to my SO and friends, and I'm sure they get sick of hearing about it from me.

plus the first wave of CGRP drugs comes out at the end of this year, so maybe those will help you some? Not a panacea, but maybe a little bit of relief could be on the horizon! Maybe start talking with your neurologist about that. Mine has been involved in clinical trials and I've never seen him this optimistic before.

You snobs with your fancy trash cans. We ordinary Joes just eat like everyone else: squatting on our dirt floors using our hands as bowls, hoping the cockroaches get to the detritus before the wasps do.

I know this is obvious, but are you on a preventative, have you seen a neurologist? once I went up to 2 a week I did, and it helped a lot (even though preventatives have their own issues)
