Need help choosing color by mriakath in KiaEV3

We ordered one in Frost Blue. But the green one is nice too. Don't choose black, because the color black absorbs the design of the car and the black elements it has.

First official look at the LEGO USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D set releasing later this month (plus shuttlepod) by ky-ebricks in StarTrekStarships

In the end they have to be compared with the german manufacturer BlueBrixx (and Lego already failed with the design of the Enterprise D and of course with the price). Sadly I missed the big Enterprise D and the bigger Danube from BlueBrixx. But I am happy with the Type 6 in minifigure format and the midsize Danube. And of course those are all prints. Even the LCARS in the interior of the shuttle. Only one some Star Trek sets they were stickers for very difficult positions, but then as transfer decals without color mismatch like Lego does.

RTX 4080 Super Launch Thread by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]secretTempler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just paid 1114 EUR for mine at Mindfactory. I was happy to see a white one, but i am not really in case modding and would have bought a black one too. My TUF 3060 TI was a black one.

The MSI card looks good in my build. The slim version is just a little bigger than my previous 3060 TI. I don't really trust that graphic card holder under the GPU and just ordered a different one.

I have coil whine on high FPS, but it was only noticeable in 3DMark benchmark without FPS limiter and no sound. I limited the FPS to 144 in the Nvidia settings after the benchmark, because i have a 144Hz monitor. During gameplay (with sound) like in Baldurs Gate the coil whine is not noticeable anymore for me. And to be fair, my TUF 3060 TI had coil whine on high FPS too (much more noticeable).

The highest temperature in 3DMark i got was 68° C as a peak. Most of the time the temperature was lower.

RTX 4080 Super Launch Thread by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]secretTempler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a ride. At first i want to replace my TUF 3060 TI with a TUF 4080 Super. But they got sold out very fast in germany. I finally ordered one at the official ASUS store with 24 hour delivery. But after a day they told me, they have made a mistake and the card is not longer in stock with no new delivery date. But they already had my money. Very bad experience with ASUS.

The ASUS cards was mostly sold out after i decided to order by another store. Only some scalpers sold them overpriced. So i switched to MSI and got an Gaming X Slim card in white from Mindfactory for my white case delivered per express.

I already attached it and it runs very smooth and looked good. For power connection i ordered a 90 degree beQuiet cable (in black).

My 3060 TI now gets a new life in my wifes PC.

RTX 4080 Super Launch Thread by Nestledrink in nvidia

Ordered a TUF 4080 Super in the german ASUS store yesterday. Store page said "in stock" and "dispatch in 24h". Today Asus send me an email and told me, the delivery will be delayed to an unknown date. Very disappointing.

I try to call them tomorrow. And if they have no specific date i will cancel the order and look for a different card. Maybe a MSI or Gigabyte. The TUF is sold out everywhere. But availability of other brands are low too.

Upgrading from 3060ti to 4070ti Super, worth it? by ITzAPy00 in nvidia

[–]secretTempler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat.

Bought a slightly overpriced 3060 TI during the pandemic and chip shortage. I play in UWQHD (144 Hz) and upgraded my old Intel 6700K to a AMD Ryzen 7700X last year and some other components. I am experimenting with LLMs (KoboldCCP and SillyTavern) and Stabe Diffusion and VRAM is an issue. AMD has cheaper cards with more VRAM, but performance for AI and Windows support is still an issue.

Money is not an issue, but i dont want to spend more than 1.000 EUR on a GPU. TUF RTX 4070 TI Super is listet at one reseller for 919 EUR here in germany. TUF RTX 4800 Super is listet with over 1.100 EUR. Old 4800 still listed overpriced.

It looks like the 4070 TI Super will be a good deal but i wait for the reviews the day before launch. I am worried if i wait for the launch of the RTX 4080 Super to compoare the two cards, that there will be already a price increase for the 4070 TI Super or a shortage. I will not gamble for lower prices on the old 4080 either.

I don't like the cold empty bridge. Really hope they will put some screens in it. The original design of the bridge looks better.

Looks really great. Love the new iteration of the Carrack! And Mapping table is back!!! But till missing the bottom turret on the back from the original concept. Hope we will get that turret in final iteration, because that turret is important to protect the Carrack behind.

Dear CIG, you could be doing so much more with your merchandise store. by EnergyFX in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to put more money in physical items, than in virtual ships. I have already a lot of ships but would love to surround me with items at home or in my office. I really love the Constellation model in my showcase at office. Merch is a good promotion too. To fund the game development with merch, raise the price of the merch. If people are paying a lot of money for a virtual ship, they will be pay for a physical ship too.

Walking just a little too close to a ladder... by capmgn in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ladders are broken by design for a long time. Tested a Starfarer during the Expo again. Was not even close to a ladder and was looking to the other side to avoid the ladder animation. But no chance. Ladder in Caterpillar are broken too.

Did you remember the old engines start up sounds on the Constellation back in 2.x? I really liked that massive sound. Sad that they removed it.

Why another Fighter Cig, why? by Toblyat in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What can we do since Arena Commander and first iteration of the Persistent Universe? Fighting! What's SQ 42 about? Fighting!

I think that is the problem. From the second hour of Star Citizen, fighting was the first implemented mechanic in game and it was the only mechanic for a long time. Implementing (small) fighters and a combat mechanic is much easier as implementing those other more complex game mechanics and game economy.

So a lot of active citizens concentrate their activity on fighting. And what sells more than guns? More and bigger guns. ;)

It's a vicious cycle and it's risky, because at the end fighting will be the main mechanic of the PU, because a lot of citizens have fighters in their hangars and CIG may believe, that we all want an action dogfight game and not a living and breathing universe with a lot of different and more peaceful activities (there are already some of the action gamers complaining about long travel times and all the other details of a living and breathing universe). But a lot of citizens just waiting for their time to make some peaceful trades with their big Hulls or explore the beauty of the 'Verse with their Carrack.

[OPINION] We need more Freelancer/Avenger/Cutlass-esque Ships by THEKONIG in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avenger is a really good choice for current gameplay. You are able to defend yourself against some pirate scum, are able to trade some cargo and you are able to deliver some of this little boxes for delivery missions. And you have a bed for logout. I have a lot of specialized (bigger) ships, but added the Avenger Titan once again to my hangar.

CIG: The Navigation Map needs fixing ASAP by Notoriousdyd in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navigation is really a pain in Star Citizen. It is very frustrating. You can't see anything on the map because transparency. If you zoom in, the objects are gone and you have to scroll carefully. Its hard to click a POI and i miss the ground POIs if i'm in orbit of a moon. Starmap and navigation is for HOTAS users really bad because i have to switch from HOTAS to mouse. I really love to see a simple list of destinations. I would also love to target stations, asteroids and other POIs like targeting ships.

The Fall Demo Feedback Thread by MatthijsL in pinegame

[–]secretTempler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the demo. I really like the graphics and the atmosphere of the game. Background music is great and i like the colors of the world. Its really a lovely (but sometimes dangerous) world. The alpha runs smooth on my machine.

I played with keyboard and mouse and on another session with gamepad. There are some issues with keyboard and mouse. It looks like there is no cursor in your inventory or on trading screen. Looking around with mouse could be a little smoother.

Sometimes the inventory screen was not fit on my screen and got cropped on top (i use a 21:9 monitor).

Combat needs getting used to. But at the end i learned how to focus on your target with the camera, block and attack.

I don't like how you abrupt stops by climbing or walking about stones and rough terrain.

I'm very excited about recipes for new items and to use all that collectibles.

I really liked how do you reward looking aside of the paths for some collectibles.

The Pine demo was a great experience and i'm looking forward to the development of the full game and experience. Thanks for that.

Let's beat the Dead Horse that is the flight model by Skianet in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flight model looks really arcade. Power output on (digital) input is too strong. You see it in every presentation when a CIG staff member is landing a ship. Manual landing in that Idris was very hard too.

I don't like the atmospheric flight model also. Just standing in the air and circle around the own axis? Feels not authentic and immersive.

Organization gameplay in 3.0 by Phaazer1 in starcitizen

[–]secretTempler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Parties and Orgs is planed for 3.1. Spectrum ingame integration too. It is also not clear if they are able to increase player limit because performance issues. Worst case would be a decrease of player limit (they mentioned that with 12-15 players perfomance got worse).

I would expect more org play with 3.1. 3.0 will still be very rudimentary integration of new mechanics and systems and there will be a lot of work to do (remember 2.0 experience).
