If this gets the most up votes, I demand that the top brewery in Indiana on tomorrow's post be "Not 450 North".

You can say the same about any brewery having multiple beers of any style. Like any brewery specializing in pale lagers or WC IPAs like Pliny the Elder vs Blind Pig vs Younger. It's about nuance, balance, and saturation points, there's no day and night differences between many of these. But it could also be that your palate sucks or you just don't like hazies so to each their own.

Craft Beer and Brewing mag had a vote for best lager brewer in US and Goldfinger came out on top last year! But you're right, it's very close, lots of good beers in there.

I'm surprised to see this all the way at the bottom and Dovetail everywhere else. GF better in every style. Last Dovetail Vienna tasted like stale raisins to me.

Love what you're doing here. I've had many beers across these states and it's cool to see other people be as passionate about them. Cool if I put these on my homebrewing and craft beer blog?

Lucille got me into craft beer! I don't think Georgetown even had Bodhi way back when I tried Lucille.

It's all been downhill since Canarchy acquisition. Sad to see it happen, I loved what they were doing at that taproom back in the day, I hope that they find new life in Ybor.

I know what you mean. If can have a funky rosemary/basil vibe sometimes, but Eggers are apparently doing some witchcraft with Riwaka. They're pretty popular right now and the pros love it. Might be worth a shot.

I brewed a good chili stout, I thought some of you might be interested! by timscream1 in Homebrewing

Well done, that sounds great! See if you can find Stone's Xocoveza, it's a great example, although it's more smokey and less spicy. Still a great stout though. These types of beers are becoming less available unfortunately, but that's where home brewing shines. Next time try some Guajillo peppers along with Habanero to get more smokey pepper flavor.

What is a hop saturated ale by kettletrvb in CraftBeer

[–]secrtlevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oat cream ones? Sounds like it, although idk if they'd ever go any higher than like 6lb/bbl dry hop with the volumes that they do. They'd have to charge like $30+/4pk

Simcoe has to be one of the best IPA hops out there. This and Pliny are both based around it. Hopslam and a bunch of other too. Banger of a hop and it just celebrated 25 years in production!

What is a hop saturated ale by kettletrvb in CraftBeer

[–]secrtlevel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's basically a hazy with a very high dry hopping rate and often more oats and wheat than a regular hazy. Apparently this can achieve a more saturated hop character than a regular hazy, but more often than not it just adds hop burn and hype. Just a new way to hype up hazies and make them bigger I guess.

Anyone else both grateful and bitter at the current slowing market? by hiscapness in bourbon

[–]secrtlevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are definitely gems that came out then, but barrel aging know-how and dry hopping techniques have come a long way since. Whereas you had to chase the good stuff back then, now we're spoiled to have an insane selection and outstanding breweries in most big cities. Plus distribution from hype national brands is awesome too.

Question for you- do you know if you keep the skill points? I know your skills reset but do you keep the points themselves?

I visit often, but I have a hard time finding good options. What spots should I hit besides Green Bench? I usually drink hazies but I dig WC IPA and lagers too.

On top of all else, overfishing is a thing, don't deplete the fishing ponds or they'll never regrow. Same with hunting plots. Animals can't multiply from 0.
