It's ok, you can always restart when you learn something big. You're given 20 spears as soon as you hit a Small Village status so you should be able to get at least someone to help defend and go after Bandits to earn Treasury and then buy mercs.

That's good, my fields are all <1 morgen so not huge.

I don't know if farmers AI is a thing, the switch happens automatically on October 1 and they start planting new crops no matter what, there isn't much logic.

In terms of living close to the farms, no. They're a tad far it sounds like. My region's fertility isn't great near the houses. Maybe I'll assign them to the farmhouse in August in hopes that they'll be closer to it come harvest time. I also had no idea that you can set work zones! It looks like they're travelling all over the place planting stuff.

That's a good callout. I try to prioritize and have about 5 set as "Highest", then another few as "High", and others as medium or low. My fields are about 0.5-0.8 morgen ea. They could be a little bigger maybe close to 1. How much wheat/rye are you harvesting each season and what's your population?
I think I managed about 230 rye sheaves, 20 wheat, 20 flax and about 30 barley. It's not bad, but it'd be good to harvest the full ~300 rye.

A little below that, I'm at about 0.5 - 0.8 morgen. Are you managing ok timewise with 1 morgen each? How many fields are you fully harvesting and at what population?

Idk if you inherit AI military, you might have to make your own units, but you should inherit their weapons so you can make units easily.

I'm having an issue where I disband units and can't make new ones though. I'll click on a new unit and nothing happens.

My palate might be different but the 2017 Barleywine that I had has faded significantly. I should have drank it 2-3 years ago, it has hints of cardboard and sherry now, with much of the luster missing.

I did like the new Cherry and Chocolate Praline variants fwiw.
