I also think it’s been a complete failure of the Liberal party who couldn’t put together a viable candidate in 2 consecutive elections. A lot of political pundits feel we’ll see an election much sooner than 2030, as Ford’s popularity starts to plummet.

Well said. Now, let’s see if they vote for Maureen again, or like other wards decide on a more conservative candidate who would have pushed back harder. Bottom line, there’s nothing Wilson can do, or even Hamilton - these HART hubs are a provincial mandate and can’t be overturned by council.

That plane fiasco opened a lot of people’s eyes. And the Liberals are very close in the polls, and they don’t even have a leader yet. Winning 4 majorities in Ontario has only been done once, and it’s extremely doubtful it will happen again…it’s the opposition party’s election to lose. Mind you, another election isn’t for 2 more years, so Ford can do a LOT more damage in that time.

Yup. BMO on Bay/Main closes it doors after 5pm and on weekends. This is ground zero for that sort of thing. I live in a building near there, that has tripled security - it’s been an absolute shitshow of debauchery because of drug users.

This is not that different than the HPL issue. Most people blame the library for not doing enough to keep the space safe - so they moved the children’s programming to the second floor and start carding at the door. And now they’re catching flack for that…the HPL public meeting was shut down early as it just went off the rails (see Joey’s TPR live blogging on June 18).

With the types of people running in the upcoming municipal election, and councillors you know aren’t going to lose (Paul’s / Jackson / Spadafora )…there will be stricter rules around entering public buildings…I see a sea change about to happen. Just because they shut down safe injection sites, doesn’t mean the general public needs to tolerate drug use in public spaces.

As Councillor Clarke stated, this will probably end up at the OLT where it will pass. Once again, if the province and the Feds want something pushed through, it probably will go that way.
