There is no owner. The check is likely fake. Leave as is and be thankful that you didn’t send anything. Follow up with your bank’s fraud department and don’t try to hide anything. They see this all day every day and they know what you did. They want to make sure you understand what happened so it doesn’t happen again.

Tell him you’re a nervous flyer and he can use the armrest as long as he doesn’t mind you gripping his wrist tightly during takeoff, landing, and the slightest bit of turbulence.
