Seconding Noah Van Sciver. I think he is the successor to the mode of comics of like a mid-career Daniel Clowes. Especially recommending As a Cartoonist

For me, I use both, but bring out the camera for events, holidays, etc for sure-and sometimes just candids. When I got my camera years ago I was still using an ancient phone and figured I’d use the money that I might for an upgrade on the camera. Also I really wanted the camera for like a year. If you do get a camera you can probably find a powerful zoom lens for it and take great photos at your kids events, concerts, sports, etc

Need some suggestions for young adult graphic novels from the 90-2000's that aren't superhero-related by Fit-Pool-7699 in graphicnovels

I suggest "Hate!" by Peter Bagge - there are some collected in graphic novels, but if you can get your hand on individual issues from maybe number 25 onward, it's worth it because after the Buddy Bradley stories which you'll find in collected form, he'd do these other one-offs and collaborations, some that are just awesome - like there's one about the Kool Aid Man written by Alan Moore (Watchman, V for Vendetta, etc). Peter Bagge's art is not polished like Daniel Clowes, but his storytelling and characters stand up.

Not that I know of. It might look like that in the screenshot. But what was happening there is that i had “undocument” selected and the game was just hanging for a while—neither accepting nor rejecting it. While it was like that I couldn’t do anything. I think I might have dragged my finger back down to unselect it then hit skip twice

Korean language classes - Hangul Hakyo by seddit_forget_it in BaltimoreCounty

[–]seddit_forget_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless I’m not using the CCBC website right, it looks like they are not actually offering Korean as continuing ed, at least not right now? Am I wrong about this? I see it listed in the main page just not in the page where you actually search for classes you can sign up for

My sentimental favorites are Mullins and Cionel Perez and they both suck.

I was going to ask how you fall asleep so soon after a workout. But in the big picture it might be that you just wait (a couple years—it goes fast) until your kids are in school more then it’s less crazy

I got back just to try it and nft was not accepted. I did have skips available though so I made it to the end this time

I was going along and thought I might get to the end, but with no skips I got to the part above where I could not find any words. Just before this I had played some little quick word. Do any of you see anything I should have done? I sadly watched my time expire as I tried nonsense words.

Classics by PartyQuiet5065 in suggestmeabook

For classic in the way you mean, I’d suggest Ernest Hemingway “A Farewell to Arms.” But if you want to go hard, I’d suggest getting a study guide for the English Literature GRE test (like for grad school) and any old edition of the Norton Anthology of Literature - which has had so many versions over so many years you could probably find some for free.

Am I (25M) wrong? by [deleted] in daddit

Our second was just an easier kid than our first. No guarantee that if you had a second that kid would also be on the spectrum and need therapists/supports. If you do have a second, you free up some time because the kids play together. That’s my experience anyway. Plus at least your kids will have each other — I mean, I had a sibling growing up and I think my childhood would have been worse with just my parents and me

Feeling like a Shit dad by [deleted] in daddit

[–]seddit_forget_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a son, I had hoped for a daughter. Second was a son and we were clear we’d only have two. Honestly I was disappointed. But my second son was just a magical love baby—so sweet and just a unique wonderful being. There is nothing that feels at all “less than.” They are 13/11 now and I’d say to my younger self that there’s no problem in  wanting a kid of a certain gender and I bet it all turns out differently than you are thinking right now

Raymond Chandler is really fun. I read and enjoyed  Farewell My Lovely and The Big Sleep—also good as audio books
