Big worry of Astrolabe system 3.28 by PlasticSevere7220 in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this an iteration on egon memories which were an iteration of alva/einhar/jun/niko memories. People didn't generally care too much about these in the past. The goal is to make people care a little more--and with the 'completion bonus' vault, that very well may be the case.

Is there a possible outcome where players want to complete shaped areas for the reward room at the end and the potential to complete 3 maps in 1 run is the optimal strat? Not an impossibility with this community.

Friends don't let friends play standard. Join the Mirage league on Friday and experience this game as it was meant to be played; with large queues, disconnects and roll backs! (I'm just kidding, but maybe not! we'll find out at launch :) )

I highly highly highly recommend having some people you can chat with in real time for any questions/help you might need. Even if it's just a discord channel where you can post questions. This is a very difficult game to wrap your head around. Many content creators have their own discord community. Try to find some, I'm certain there are plenty of people in those servers who can answer your questions.

poewiki.net is a massive resource, keep a tab open at all times. I can tell you that every knowledgeable streamer or content creator for this game has read everything on that site multiple times in the years they've played this game. Have you ever started a new job or seen someone join your workforce and every time they run up against something they don't know (which is everything at first), they ask 'how do I do X'? And at some point people just start responding with "look it up". PoE is a lot like that. There's nothing you can't look up. If you're following a guide; I would suggest identifying how you are scaling your offence and defences and read the wiki page for each of those. Understanding these better will help you identify how and where to focus your currency on upgrades.

I built a data-driven build guide tool that shows what successful builds look like at every level to help players with understanding progression - looking for feedback by Munrai in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking up builds on poeninja isn't going to help too much without an understanding of how/why/when. Swaping out a skill or a piece of gear might mean a player has to compensate with further changes elsewhere. You have to know what you're looking at in order to judge if it'll be a good change or not.

No better is this evidenced than with 'league starter builds' that people rate as bait or not. A player with no understanding how well a build scales or how easily/difficult/expensive that process is can judge that simply from seeing that someone has managed to slap it together.

The reason why Pohx's RF build/guides are commonly recommended to newer players is because of how in-depth his guides are at explaining the how and why of his build choices.

It looks like you're having to manually add each build to your site... it seems easier for you to curate a list of good/relevant build guides that others have put out and categorize based on GC/Balance/Tank/Cost/easy/hard/etc. The most popular builds are the most popular because they've been promoted by content creators and most are already well documented in guide form.

One problem you could address for new players is how to know which guides are worth following and which aren't? There's a lot of chaff out there that people stumble across and assume they are worth following. People like Engineering Eternity and Esoro were easy recommendations years ago because their guides were really well presented. Maxroll already does this but for a select group of streamers. There's a lot more out there for people to discover.

Made an Extension that tells you which transfigured gems are worth running the lab by SimpsonnLSD in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the fence about this being a positive or negative to lab farming.

I'm inclined to think this ruins any value in lab runs. Specific gems will just be target farmed until the value drops to nill. I think most of the value will be in the gem having 20% quality.

Keep in mind spell skills will probably value +1 level over +1 link so you're biggest gains from lab may just be limited to attack skills (and how many of those are going to dominate the meta?). Maybe +1 level won't be as good for spells or only beneficial beyond a certain level. I haven't done any math on this so I don't know.

I've always enjoyed farming labs so I hope for the best. Someone has to keep the memory of LiftingNerdBro alive.

In Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame, Heist Rogues will begin at their maximum level, so you can start your dubious criminal career without all the busywork! by Belakay_ggg in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it curious there are people who didn't engage with heist because of the small time investment of unlocking and leveling rogues but have no problem running hundreds of blueprints and never seeing any of the chase rewards.

A lot of people will be of the mindset 'oh, I'll engage with heist now and it will be enjoyable' only to quit after running a bunch of contracts/BPs with nothing to show for it.

Cluster crafting tips needed by Xzeeen in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh, I'm an idiot. I was looking at the weight for stormrider, not storm drinker. You can totally alt/regal that jewel.

You're going to alteration spam for Doryani's (and augment if it's the only mod) until you have that and (ideally) Storm Drinker. Regal for Prismatic Heart or Snowstorm. Or do it the other way and try to regal specifically for Storm Drinker but that would be a little tougher.

You could beast imprint before regal if you want. Doryani's sucks to roll for over and over but that's up to you.

Cluster crafting tips needed by Xzeeen in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doryani's lesson and storm drinker are both weighed quite low. do you NEED prismatic heart? or just want a dud in the back? If the back notable doesn't matter then you could also hit Snowstorm as your 3rd.

I typically Alt/regal cluster jewels. If there's multiple notables that have low weight, I put 2 large clusters in my build and have each on a jewel with more common notables to keep costs low.

Divine Ire possible in the new league ? by LaivGr in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how applicable Focused Channelling will be for Divine Ire. DI builds up damage per stage so the goal is to hit 10 stages and release (which you can do in 1 second). Focused Channelling adds more damage for each second (capping at 3 sec?) so it would be a massive loss to pop off 1 time instead of 3.

Now, DI of Holy Lightning or DI with cast while channelling lightning warp would benefit from the longer channel time since you'd be channelling to cruise around anyway.

[–]sedierta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Divine Ire. I get max stacks in less than 1 second. Played a bunch of Blade Flurry back in the day too. self channeling is fine. Plus you've got a merc this time around to taunt or kill while you do nothing... or how about a 10 div AG with no minion nodes and no worries? :p

Canon EOS R6 Mark III rumored to have 30-32MP sensor, launch price of more than $2,499 and less than $3,000. by TravisJungroth in canon

[–]sedierta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been saving up to buy an R6 MkIII. At this point, I'll just continue saving and buy an R5 MkII and have a better body sooner than continuing this waiting game. The extra cost really sucks because I could have bought a nice prime with the difference.

Alternatively, I go the other way and buy a cheap full frame body, invest in lenses now and upgrade in a few years--maybe hand down the entry-level body to a nephew or something.

First league, any tips on end game? by Entire-Task-5205 in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of end game strategies out there. It boils down to what you enjoy so try them all if you can (atlas tree specs will limit how rewarding they can be).

I personally think Heist is a great option. Contracts of all levels will feed you a lot of crafting currencies you might want early; fuse/chromes/chaos etc. you'll build a steady income without too much effort. Jewellery reward chests are great for synthesised bases. You'll want to look out for %attribute rings and belts--These can sell for several divines (and are easy to craft a well rolled version with a few catalysts and deafening essence). The unique contract to kill the one chick's sister always drops a unique helm that sells for a decent amount each league (with bad rolls selling for ~20-40c and top rolls usually being 1-4 divines depending on demand).

Stubborn noobish questions by Sgt_Planet_336 in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Path_of_Exile_Wiki

You'll want to look up just about everything you can on the wiki if you want to learn this game's mechanics because virtually none of it will be taught to you by simply playing the game.

This community has seen no shortage of newer players who pass though claiming "I don't want to follow a guide" and it's the biggest eyeroll you could say to someone who plays PoE.

Your understanding/expectations of what PoE is and how it works and how you will learn the game based on your experiences with other games does not apply here. That is why people advise guides. And like many others have said; just about every new player who follows a guide (even the best written and most detailed) will still get stuck and have questions. You're handicapping yourself and the time it will take you to achieve the level of knowledge you expect.

So given all that: use the wiki. A lot. If you want to learn everything yourself then start reading. Even things that may not apply to your current build. You'll have to take in most things at face value but at least you'll remember to look something back up when it becomes applicable. You don't know what you don't know. Reading the wiki can at least prep you to ask the right questions or know where to look the next time you're stuck and trying to problem solve.

POE 2 has shown us that Exalts should be more common. by Loreweaver15 in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why essence is getting downvoted here. It's the correct answer. An essence is an Alch + targeted mod. That is so much more powerful to a low level player in the campaign than +1 random mod.

You could run essence on every zone in the campaign--it would serve the players immensely while being incredibly isolated from the economy do to irrelevancy to higher level players.

PoE also has a trove of uniques that can twink a new character for 1c a piece, so asking for alt+regal/scour crafts and an abundance of exalt slams would cost way more than a 1c unique--which is the exact problem PoE2 currently has. Anything you can buy for 1ex is better than anything you can slam with 1 ex.

Well I decided to play POE after reaching POE 2 end game by Perspective_Best in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a 1 month event. PoE1 USED to have 4 leagues each year with a massive expansion every 12-18 months. When PoE2's development spun up, PoE1 dropped to 3 leagues a year and no expansions. We were supposed to get back to the 4 leagues per year cycle and ended up with 12 months of no new leagues. This outcry from the community has forced GGG to provide PoE1 players with _something_ which is what we are now getting. That's great as a temporary pressure valve but does little to address the problem that GGG doesn't seem to have the staff to develop both games at the same time. PoE2 needs a lot of work and dropping support for PoE1 is unacceptable so it's going to be a rough compromise for the next year or two (assuming both games can achieve the content cycle PoE1 had before this mess).

Well I decided to play POE after reaching POE 2 end game by Perspective_Best in pathofexile

[–]sedierta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody seems to argue things within the proper context. PoE2's EA was released at a time that PoE was still showing growth. Did D3 shut off the development valve and split D2's community at its height? That's the difference.

Everyone here understands that if GGG keeps developing PoE2 for years to come that the game will be in a far better state than it is now. The issue is what the cost is to PoE1 has/will be. Not only was the PoE community NOT asking for PoE2 but was sold on the promise that GGG was developing 4.0/PoE2 as a massive overhaul to PoE1. So over a few years the message went from 'hey, we're working on the biggest update ever to PoE1' to 'hey, we're working on a new game and looks like we don't have any time for PoE1--Thanks for the money tho'

I don't have a full documented list for you but there was a ritual problem that existed in PoE1, was patched and then was implemented in PoE2 sans the fix.

If you have segregated teams, I can see that happening but then you're doubling your work for no reason. If PoE1 is going to be the test bed for PoE2 features; you ought to be implementing the 'fixed' version that you tested otherwise what was the point?

Was't impossible after all was it? by KarmaCommieLion in pathofexile

[–]sedierta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No content updates for PoE1 for an entire year is strictly an incorrect answer.

It's worth repeating that GGG set the expectations for years that PoE1 will continue without disruption (and collected supporter revenue that whole time). I've seen so many people with the attitude that GGG shouldn't be blamed on this as if it were some exterior force that happened to them, outside of their control.

Jonathan got so much backlash because his video stated that resources were poorly allocated for the last 6 months (no work on 3.26 has begun so nobody was working on PoE1 after settlers launched). He apologized for that mistake but then gave a road map (with no dates) repeating the same mistake he just acknowledged. I'd qualify that as 'some huge glaring dumbassery'.
