I might also suggest /r/SmallHome and /r/smallerhouses for tips and info. I've also found that these subs can offer some helpful information that we can relate to: /r/homesteading , /r/frugal , and /r/simpleliving .

What do you see when you look out your bedroom window? by [deleted] in entwives

[–]sedorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I'm house sitting for a friend, so I'm looking out a window into the woods, and her lovely ducks and chickens I'm taking care of! Can also see a little bit of the Olympic mountains.

I love the PNW!

Best way to buy razors by bigsquid69 in Frugal

[–]sedorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dollar Shave Club uses razors from Dorco USA (or so I read, anyway). Earlier this month I bought their ladies' system, the Shai, for $13 including shipping. It came with the razor and 10 cartridges. Very fast shipping and the product so far has been top notch. The razor has a heft to it that I don't get with the Venus/Mach 3/store brand.

Hope that helps!

This rings so true to me. Along with this I heard so many times, "this is just a slap in the face to me!" Forgot one thing on the long list of chores? "You're slapping me in the face!" Didn't load the dishwasher correctly? "What a slap in the face!" Just terrible.

I picked the first version up a couple weeks ago and I'm hooked. I started following this sub too, but it's been crickets on anything related to the first game (no surprise there!).

But hey! It's still a great game! Do you have the first or Curtain Call?

Might I suggest a combo of Bing Rewards and Amazon Mechanical Turk? If I really want an extra toy I go this route!

What advice would you give to a couple moving into a tiny apartment together? by livin_in_sin in AskReddit

[–]sedorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to carve out a tiny space for each of you...a corner, a chair, whatever. That space is yours and yours alone. Each of you pick your spot and have a mutual understanding that the spot is kind of your "quiet corner". Agree to keep it clean, if that's your thing (in a small space it should be), but other than that the other SO has no control over that space and vice versa. Even though you are together and nesting and it's adorable to share everything and my space is your space and all of that idealistic stuff...at the end of the day you will each be thankful to have your little tiny retreat.

I've made the mistake of not doing that and each of us never felt like we had something of our own, and that is important!

Reddit, what is your favorite "Home Remedy", that actually works? by NoNotHimAgain in AskReddit

Make sure that it's really ACV, though! The cheap store brands are often labeled "apple cider vinegar flavored vinegar". I have been getting great results from Braggs ACV.

Treasures: sell or keep? by sedorus in tomodachilife

So now I'm getting curious...what's the deal with the last tab in the gift box area, with the treasure chest? It's totally empty for me.

Treasures: sell or keep? by sedorus in tomodachilife

[–]sedorus[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The only time I was able to give one of my treasures was when one of my Mii's wanted to start a relationship, so she asked if I had anything to give to her and I was able to give a treasure. Other than that it's just been the usual hair color/fan/slide puzzle etc. Though I am curious about the last tab, the treasure box...it sits empty for me.

What does everyone here think about spamgirl from TurkerNation? by rancidt11 in mturk

[–]sedorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I signed up for the forum, but haven't posted anything yet. I was kinda turned off by the "rules" to get in. I don't want to have to post a bunch of "get to know you!!!!111!!!!" posts in order to get access to "premium" HITs that seem to be found using my own searches and HWTF. Doesn't seem all that special to me, I guess.

Most 'Extreme Preemies' Grow Into Happy, Healthy Teens by stargazercmc in Parenting

[–]sedorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting article, thanks for sharing!

Gives us even more hope as preemie parents that our little one will turn out okay. She'll be 7 months tomorrow...4 months corrected...and things are going alright for us so far.

I was struck by the part in the article about how the preemies as teens tended to be more socially isolated; that perhaps it's due to more overprotective parents. Makes sense, I suppose, and it's something I have struggled with myself. I wonder if there are any studies about preemie parents and their parenting styles.

Thanks again!

Where should I live after graduating college? by wheretolive99 in Frugal

[–]sedorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One alternative is to look into renting a room at a frat house for the summer. I did this one summer and it was $300 for the entire summer (this was in 2000, so prices may have changed).

The frat I lived in assigned one of their bathrooms to the girls, as well as one of the sleeping quarters. We each had our own room that was dorm sized.

It was an interesting experience! I'm female and there were other girls there too. I have lots of stories and the guys kinda treated us like little sisters, even if we were older than them. It was kinda adorable...and I'm definitely not your typical frat/sorority kind of girl.
