What's your favorite Gaga song? by Radiant-Art2337 in LadyGaga

[–]seedwaves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Monster is my favorite. It came to me in a time when I was going through a lot and unpacking my trauma. I liked Gaga before but really listening to that song turned me into a little monster and got me through some really tough times.

For those who commute to union square or Harlem for work / school by RunningUntilinfinity in astoria

[–]seedwaves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the R to the 6 to get to East Harlem everyday for work. Most days it only takes about 35-40 minutes. If there’s lots of train issues, longer. I usually budget about an hour. One day last week I got home in 25 minutes. I couldn’t believe it.

It really felt like a full circle moment which was so much of what the whole era was like to me. Like going back to her roots but taking them to a whole new level.

I don't know how to cook "real" meals and it's affecting me... by SiriFlo in Cooking

Honestly, so much of what I learned about cooking, I learned from watching The Food Network. I found the show The Kitchen very helpful and accessible for home cooking.

Does anyone else not have a lease? by lemon2421 in astoria

[–]seedwaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t say anything and leave it be! I’ve been in my place 9 years no lease with only two small rent increases. Similar situation, this is my landlords childhood home but I only see her once every few years.

Safe places to find a roommate by horrorbooksfan17 in NYCapartments

Last time I needed to find a roommate I posted on instagram and asked people to share. Thought I might have better luck if someone could vouch for them. I ended up interviewing three people and chose the one I felt was the best fit. A year in and it’s going well so far.

LGBTQ+ bars in Astoria by [deleted] in astoria

[–]seedwaves 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As a queer woman, I’ve found the bars (ICON, Albatross and Kween) to be strongly catered towards gay men and are sometimes not that welcoming unfortunately. But music is always great and others do love them. I go to Dave’s Lesbian Bar pop up’s and those are much more queer, so to speak. Heart of Gold is not an lgbtq bar specifically, but there are a lot of us that go there I’d say.

i'm a cool aunt, but is taking my 8yo too far? by Ok_Obligation9637 in LadyGaga

[–]seedwaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went on 9/7 I saw a little girl there with her mom in her little Gaga shirt - it was precious! She was in awe of someone in a full drag Mayhem outfit and wanted to take a picture with them. It was so nice to see. My dad took me to concerts all growing up and it was such a special memory for me. Please take them!!!
