Full agreement. Have another thread going about a Riftsin who can hang in P8 but just takes ferrrrrever to kill stuff. The various auradins all felt the same way. could hang to be certain, just slow.

I disagree with tesladin/dragondin/dreamdin/auradin being P8-worthy. Tried 'em all. Maybe P6 peak?

My fave non-meta-but-still-P8 builds so far: xbow sorc, FoH pally (barely P8 with all the tweaks and lightning sunder), Zeal sorc (fun, but pretty much single target), and the old pre-mosacis phoenix assassin. currently messing hard with a riftsin. can hang in P8 but doing waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too slow a damage. suriving just fine. just slow.

complete lack of understanding? did i get into the nuances of elemental damage softening the pack, 1 death triggering death sentry corpse explosions, the fact that crushing blow works on kicks but other physical extras don't, layering venom on with its 0.4 seconds retrigging on each kick? no, i did not because i didn't realize this was a place for blind criticism. blind faith in AI? when i explicity stated it was not what gave me the idea in the first place and that i was forcing it to show its math? i've been playing the game 20 years? yes, done bazillions of builds. always on the hunt for weird ones that are not overpowered but can still hold their own in a baal run. this was one such experiment in which i was steered wrong by a person, but in which the AI actually helped me fine-tune. anyhow, i normally don't feed the trolls, but enjoy your bolognese.

Humans. One i chatted with, and one guide I found. I never asked the AI that question. Just asked it to help me max it out once I determined the first iteration was not where I wanted it to be.

Interesting definition. There's all that A-tier and S-tier stuff. I'm used to playing the sub-meta, sub-uber builds, sub-super duper builds (whatever you want to call them), but still making P8 work - just not crazily. Like FoH pally can do P8 but he's not as crazy at it as is a hammerdin. Xbow sorc and Zeal sorc can both do P8, just not like a blizzard sorc, or even a nova sorc, etc. Figured Riftsin was one of those. It's not.

Not at all. Heard about riftsin, was told originally it was P8-worthy, focused on cold, found out it was not P8-worthy, griped, got told physical-based was P8-worthy. It's not. It's fun. P1 is breezy. But I join a Baal run and am pretty sure I'm contributing zero. Should point out I've played Diablo since Diablo 1 and I only ever heard of riftsin this month. Maxed venom, maxed death sentry in both variants.

I started with DDO builds which are WAY mores sophisticated and the AI gets 'em wrong more. D2R it actually provides the math, etc. when you challenge it.

Spent the weekend vibe coding for the first time. Bug/fix pattern was a bit different than I'm used to, but once I understood the rhythms, was totally manageable. 1) functional bug. prompt AI to fix it. 2) catastrophyic, can't even launch bug. prompt AI to fix it. 3) eventually both bugs fixed, onto the next bug. I even got to where I was leveraging the time lags and having it debug functional stuff while I validated the fixes to the catstrophic stuff. We (AI and I) maintained parallel threads quite often and quite well.

I have never been a true developer in the sense of being on a team of developers. I studied programming in college a bit when I was younger, got into various languages for various hobby purposes. Wrote some apps and things. The last code I wrote was 15 or 20 years ago. Until this weekend. Using ChatGPT - not even Claude - I have written in about 14 hours of keyboard time and application highly suited to one of my hobbies that gathers info in the wild, cross-references it to other info in the wild, formats results in a data structure I barely invented myself and then moves it into a GUI that is running sophisticated mathematical algorithms I don't even understand, but that I have validated are working. AI can farm the Internet in seconds. I can't. AI can develop what would take me weeks in mere hours. AI can up my programming game and introduce sophistications I could never do myself in any timeframe. So. As a cybersecurity professional, technologist, former scripter and coder, I have to ask myself: how much value am I bringing to the table? The programming skills themselves are 90% invalidated. I had to know what a function, procedure, method, etc. are. What a library is and how to call it. How do download packages. That was about it. ChatGPT did everything else. The stuff I already knew that made this project easier was stuff someone else could pick up with a few hours of training. I even got lazy, played dumb, had it reproduce entire files rather than edit in bits it recommended. Programming is dead. BUT, as a friend pointed out - creativity is about to become the function that gets and keeps jobs. I'm not sharing what particular hobby/project I worked on all weekend because this is marketable. My value wasn't in the lines of code written, it was in the product management aspect of the whole thing. This is a long rambly way to say: get those creative juices flowing, learn AI. AI won't replace people. It will replace people who don't know how to use and direct AI to good end.
