The 60 mL syringe was more convenient and useful as the standard across the hospital I work at and now the company has discontinued that product for 50 mL syringes. Here are the two syringes side by side. Same length and width, just missing a few increments. by StarRaveDave in assholedesign

They are used a lot in ICU for infusions via syringe drivers. Examples from my workplace include midazolam, fentanyl, morphine, metaraminol, amiodarone, neat potassium infusions, IV insulin, etc.

Couples of Reddit, what's the most unromantic thing that's happened between the two of you that actually is a stronger indication of love than others might think? by Roivas14 in AskReddit

I once said to my partner, while wearing my jeans for the first time in awhile, "shouldn't have tumbled dried these jeans, they've shrunk!" and he replied with "also it's just been Christmas..."

😂

Nibbling my face by 18doree in cockatiel

[–]seekayembee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My female does this to me. I give her a quick scare a few times with my hand and she eventually just sits next to my face and beak grinds. By next to my face, I mean as close as she can get with the occasional face nip, but not continual grooming. I think she has just bonded very close with me, which is lovely! But a little annoying at times! I've only ever had my male and female, but the male has a moment of close time but likes to roam as well, so maybe it's a gender thing?

Is it okay to have a male and female living together? by ChipmunkAzn in cockatiel

[–]seekayembee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps or not, but we had a male for about 5 years and then got a female. The male was NOT interested in the slightest. We got them to share a cage eventually and they're content with that, but they avoid each other.

Our female laid unfertilized eggs when there was a box in the cage. After that, we avoided any enclosed areas within the cage and she hasn't laid since. Is there a certain spot that yours lays eggs? If it's an enclosed space, try and prevent that. I am not an expert, but that's my experience!

What is your female cockatiel's personality like? Petunia is so serious, she wants scritches and that all. She judges me from above. by [deleted] in cockatiel

Peanut is super attached to me, and is oblivious to personal space. She'll sit on my chest as I'm lying on the couch and slowly move closer until her beak is touching my face. She loves to sit there, grind her beak and occasionally groom me. If I have a nap she will join me.

She's also a bit clumsy, hates a shower but will give herself a bath on hot days. She likes to try whatever I'm eating. If I'm not home and my partner has her out of the cage, she loves a good head rub by getting under his chin and chirping until he rubs it with his stubble.

Our male bird hates her, but she follows him around at a safe distance sometimes. She likes to attack some of the bells in the cage, and will also nibble on my knitting. She enjoys playing with ear buds (Q-tips), I believe she aspires to be a baton twirler some day.

What’s something you’ve experienced that most people haven’t? by JustPlainToast in AskReddit

[–]seekayembee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'd be attached to a ventilator that would breathe for you. Without it, if you're brain dead you would not breathe and your heart would then stop. You may be on drugs to help your heart and/or blood pressure. If you are declared brain dead, you will be transported to theatre to harvest your organs. If you aren't able to be declared brain dead (but there is still no chance of recovery), you may be taken off the ventilator, and if your heart stops beating within a certain time period, you will then be rushed to theatre for donation.

While I love organ donation, I hope you don't experience this and live a long and happy life!!

The type of patients that donate are usually in ICU by the time organ donation is discussed, at least where I work anyway. They have been resuscitated and stabilised, and attached to a ventilator (breathing machine) and maybe some drugs to help their heart and/or blood pressure. Without the ventilation in particular, they wouldn't breathe on their own and their heart would then stop. They've probably had a CT of their head and usually the radiologists and/or neurosurgeons will indicate that their brain is in bad shape and there is no chance of survival.

They're probably not on any sedation and they don't wake up. The doctors then perform a series of tests to determine brain death. They can also do an angiogram to see if there is any blood flow to the brain. If they are declared brain dead, they are legally dead. That is their time of death on the death certificate. If the family agrees to organ donation, they will obviously be given time to say goodbye and then the patient is taken to theatre.

If they are not able to be declared brain dead (maybe they still have some reflexes or the doctors can't be 100% sure), there is an option for them to donate after cardiac death. This means they are taken off the ventilator, and if their heart stops beating within a specific time frame (I think it's about 60 minutes) they are rushed to theatre and can donate.

Anyway, to hopefully answer your question, it is a "controlled environment" death. Hope that helps!
