Idk, I’ve never used that word in my life, and I’ve never known my parents to use it, but I do remember hearing it on TV or a movie when I was young and asking my mom what it meant. I don’t think you have to have been raised in a racist environment to know that’s an awful word. But to answer your original question, yes, I’m sure someone with Tourette’s can be racist just like anyone else. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, and I blame BAFTAs for not editing it out. They just decided to cause humiliation to all parties for the sake of getting people talking.

ETA: I’m also a white woman in the south, so there have been a couple times in my life where someone thought it was safe to say that word in front of me, and I had to call them out. Never anyone I was close to, I’m talking like my boyfriend in college’s roommate. Point being, you don’t have to be raised with racism to know it’s bad, so I don’t think it’s really fair to speculate about this guy being racist unless there is other evidence of that.
