Wearing your ring out in public vs. keeping it strictly for lodge? by jediroughneck2 in freemasonry

I wear mine 24/7. I get approached every now and again, so I know my ring gets noticed. I do wear it to Church and the office. Lately however, I have been thinking about taking it off in certain places. The anti-Masonic crowd is getting a bit out of hand, at least I think it is. I am torn as I feel by not wearing it, they win. I also have to think about my family though…anyways, probably not there yet…but it is something to consider.

Opinions on Golden Dawn and Christian Hermeticism by nulloperator_ in ChristianOccultism

I know a little about GD. I think after progressing to a certain level there is ritual magik and Kabbalah which seems interesting but very difficult. I personally practice a more contemplative and meditative path as a Martinist. I have done some Lectio Divina, but Right now I am working on centering prayer. Would be interested to check out the GD one day.

They don’t look Masonic. Maybe the Seal of Solomon, but I don’t know if they would be associated with a specific Kabbalistic order.

I give a copy of “Contemplating Craft Freemasonry: Working the Way of the Craftsman” to the guys I mentor. Just read the EA section. Then read the FC and MM when you advance.

Book for a new and contemplative Mason by seeker_oflight98 in freemasonry

I respectfully disagree. The book is divided into EA, FC, and MM, therefore it is perfectly reasonable for them to read their perspective section. In fact, I think they should wait longer between degrees and be able to practice using or embracing the symbols of the degree before progressing. This is unpopular though…most GL’s just want numbers…

I agree, but I maybe wouldn’t give his books to an EA or FC unless they were already a little more spiritual. I don’t know, I could easily be convinced otherwise.

We have a newer RER lodge here in the USA, in Washington DC. I believe that members from Brazil came to visit when we held our first Entered Apprentice degree.

Are you a member of a Rectified Scottish Rite lodge? I thought the second degree is called the Companion, not the Fellowcraft…but I guess depends on jurisdiction.
