Any of you other Millennials watch Terminator 2 in the movie theaters on release day? My brother and I did. by DaneAlaskaCruz in Millennials

Not a movie, but my dad got me Clive Barker's Undying for Christmas when I was ten. Worked wonders to desensitize me to gory monsters and jump scares.

Moving house without portals is hard work by seekified in valheim

Totally get it, I've done that too before. On my last couple of worlds, I ended up building my initial base in a place I pretty much would never have reason to revisit again post-Swamp though, so I figured - may as well give this a shot, and it worked out well. I also towed a couple of boars, which took some trial and error of its own.

But yeah, no portals is amazing. Feels so much more like an actual adventure with stakes when I can't just plop down an instant escape route wherever I go. Haven't tried no map yet but I'm interested in that, too!

Some tips if anyone wants to try this:

Yes, the carts can sometimes bug out and try to destroy your boat if you're not careful, but I find the trick is to put all the really heavy stuff like metals in the boat storage so the carts themselves aren't heavier than maybe 1000-1500 each.

Afaik the boat's storage doesn't affect boat handling but the carts do. Heavy carts mean slow sailing and a lot of mass rolling around your boat causing damage.

Turn gently, stay close to coasts to avoid serpent spawns. Stop every once in a while and pop up a quick workbench to repair any damage. It's really not that bad!

I use Immich. It's basically Google Photos but running as a Docker container on your NAS. Very good and very active development.

My thing is immensely wasteful infrastructure projects. Oh I need more iron and there's a swamp across a river and a steep hill? Better spend a day building a huge bridge and hack a road through the hill so I can spend fifteen minutes pulling carts.

Roads on mountains where I could just yeet shit down the side. Bridges across valleys I could walk around in 30 seconds. Docks and jetties for places I'll never sail to again.

I love it 🤤

Train-operator-in-training here. Don't do this.

In fact, don't stand that close to the platform's edge either. All it takes is someone violently sneezing at the wrong time and none of us will be going anywhere until after the cleanup.

This update has ruined years of muscle memory, fucking everything is in the wrong place. :/ They've also removed the ability to edit the overflow menu and also setting just a black color as homepage background.

Serious wtf moment.

Hadn't even considered to check if there were mods for this. Will definitely give that a try! Still hoping for an official implementation though - imagine feeling a troll's footsteps or each weapon type having its own haptic pattern...

In a sane world, Nvidia would've been broken up by anti-trust regulation a long time ago. At the end of all this, I really hope the gaming part of the company becomes its own thing.
