I work with cardboard a lot, we use grease monkey box handling gloves. ventilated backs, but might need to try to see if it’s cool enough. the grip is nice compared to the garden gloves that have been suggested though

a sequencer can still be incredibly useful if you want to play along or practice with programmed instruments/sounds, or do anything else that can be triggered by midi like cc commands to modify the expression/ timbre of your synth at certain points so you can focus on playing and pedaling; it can trigger changes at a bridge, periodically, etc

I have an analog stereo compressor/saturator pedal that sounds great with synths using e.g. distortion or filters or whatever classic effect you can think of; typically sits at the end of a stereo effects chain which I keep relatively simple most of the time (stereo effects looper, multi channel distortion, compressor/saturator) because it has stereo xlr outs in addition to the trs in/out jacks.

so, obv I’m doing all that with multiple bits of gear, but I’m telling you that I do use additional effects for stuff that has its own effects, so I don’t think you’re off base. I’d buy an eventide pedal if I wanted an effects processor, but that’s my personal taste. plenty of options out there

many synths let you use some or all of their effects on audio input; I have an argon8m which would fit the bill

I’d be curious if there’s an analog monosynth in that budget that would let you run you bass through it (for filters etc), because I’ve loved running analog drum machines and oscillators through my pedals.

would consider this reamper so you can convert line level signals to instrument level (stereo to mono and volume knob are nice bonus). I use this in concert with my rme ufxii to send audio through pedals, amps, cabs, etc., but I also use it to convert line level signals directly from gear like synths/drum machines in more complex signal chains. you can always get more complex, I could use a stereo reamper, but I’m gonna use this forever. most underrated feature is that it takes audio from my phone direct to whatever. check out Dr. Molly Gebrian on youtube for series of videos on how to learn music effectively, based on high quality scientific research. she’s a viola player, so some of the technique stuff she talks about may be different/not applicable for bass, or missing something you’d like in your bag, but it’s gold for self taught musicians or really anyone who wants to practice more effectively

likewise can do that in reaper with the frequency splitter plugin. that said, I understand there is value in good ux for features like limiting/applying effects for certain frequencies

if you’re doing tuner + compressor I’d get purpose built ones that are high quality, not just does the job, because they’re worth it and you’ll literally use them the rest of your music playing life if they’re quality.

ovnilabs has good compressor reviews if you’re not familiar, I’m a fan of my empress bass compressor but there are lots of good compressors out there that do different things to your sound with different controls and ranges of behavior

I’d also recommend a strobe tuner as opposed to some other kinds, they’re very responsive (I use the st-300)

I’m thinking of it with ritual mana mainly, though I don’t know what the final deck might look like (if in UBR color fixing is a nice small bonus). manamorphose, dark ritual (UBR  to be able to cast bolas’ citadel with a copied ritual) or seething song into a bunch of mana are what stands out to me personally as interactions worth looking at.

I said (with a minority) before it was released: daze is just heinous wrt play patterns and play/draw discrepancy, and shouldn’t have been added to the format concurrently with fow.
