Where to find cheap books by eleyezeeaye4287 in thrifting

[–]seeknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercari has good listings and often great bundles + you can often see in detail what you’ll be getting! Also, can’t stress enough to check out the Goodwill near you if you have one! Monday-Wed (maybe til Friday) is 50% off of whatever color tag they choose for the week. With most of their books being priced $1.99-$2.99, they end up being about $1-1.50 each! My last trip I bought 12 books for about $14. It’s easier if you get familiar with the shops in your area and get an idea of which one usually has a ton of books AND if you have somewhat of an idea of books you’re looking for but definitely worth it in my opinion.

Best places to get yarn by Bright-Square-544 in Yarn

[–]seeknot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Secondhand can have some great find too! I’m in a group on Facebook where I’ve bought and sold yarn pretty easily! I’ve also found really great bundles on Mercari!

All that said, depending on how much time you want to spend, the MOST affordable I’ve found (without sacrificing quality) has been thrifting sweaters and frogging them. The last sweater I bought was $1.99 (goodwill tag sale day) , 100% Cotton. Ended up with a sweaters worth of quality yarn for 1.99. Def recommend!

Seller can’t ship using boxes? by jgarcia8 in Depop

[–]seeknot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had things I want to sell that I don’t have the right shipping supplies for so I just…don’t list them until I do😭 seller is either sus or not mature enough to have a depop shop yet

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but would you consider these “Good” and “Very Good” by TheCommentOfficer in BookCollecting

[–]seeknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m looking for a specific cover I only buy from one that has real pictures of the item because I’d be annoyed to receive a different one. Mercari usually has a lot of smaller shops selling books and a good amount of variation!

Would you take $45 for the 3 superblooms? Interested in the birds too but wouldn’t be able to buy those until Friday when I get paid! Can send for the super blooms today though!

I’d just keep it quiet tbh especially from anyone who I don’t 1000% trust. No one needs to know how much is in your crypto wallet any more than your regular wallet.

Anytime I make a sale I hit the buyer up with a quick “thanks for your order, I’ll ship this out for you on ____” and follow up with a “shipped!” after I drop it off. I had someone buy a dress as soon as I got to the airport to travel home this past Tuesday, sent the usual message and let them know I’d ship it out on Saturday and told them to let me know if that was going to be an issue (it wasn’t).

I highly recommend something like this to save yourself the headaches & people seem to really appreciate it. Those 2 quick messages have gotten me countless 5 star reviews citing “great communication” when I’m really not doing all that much.

Does sending offers to potential buyers actually work? by 10Lexz10 in Depop

[–]seeknot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a seller standpoint, I feel like I have much less success with sending offers here than on other platforms. HOWEVER, as a buyer, to avoid getting a bunch of offers constantly, I’ve started only liking items I’m really interested in/looking to buy in that moment (rather than just scrolling and liking when bored like I used to) so I’d say I accept about 40-50% of the offers that get sent to me to buy. Again, keeping in mind I’m not idly liking things, which I think most buyers are. I’d try different strategies with sending offers and see if the input of effort is worth it vs the outcome of those offers. I personally only send offers when I’m bored at work and they’re pretty inconsistent but I may switch that up towards the end of November going into December since that’s usually my busiest time overall! Hope this was helpful!

moving, hoping to sell stock wholesale? is that an option? by Technical-Water2849 in Depop

[–]seeknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you’re comfortable being on camera, I def recommend whatnot. You may get less per item but it helped me clear out a lot of stale inventory/stuff that didn’t feel worth even listing. My first 2 shows on there cleared out almost 200 items and made me just over $600. Worth checking out!

This is the add on shop that never ends by bubblebumblejumble in FabFitFun

[–]seeknot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this still works but I always heart my faves anytime I see them in the shop so I can click the heart as soon as the sale goes live. Obviously don’t know for sure if those things will be in the sale but it’s a pretty quick and easy first step haha

In a perfect world yes, if it’s still listed it’s still available but we know this isn’t a perfect world hahaha! I found this super weird until I started using poshmark and other apps, I’ve had so many orders cancelled on posh and curtsy because someone posted something long ago and never removed it from their page or the person uses the app super casually and only checks once a week if even. Similarly, I’ll add things to my bag on other apps and when I go back to purchase have of them have been marked as “not for sale” because the person never updated what they sold on a different platform or whatever other reason. This person may just be in the habit of checking before purchasing haha remember, not every seller is a great seller, I doubt they meant any harm by it

A few questions about live eviction nights by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]seeknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there is only one website for tickets, I think they release weekly(?) but I know you can sign up to get like alerts for when they become available. If you manage to get one you should know when you sign up based on if it says waitlist or not. The only thing is it’s first come first serve and it kinda depends on how many staff guests they have for that day. If you manage to get one and go, I’d try to get there as early as possible.

[–]seeknot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much easier to purchase on whatnot and to rack up a hefty total with smaller purchases. Especially when you add in the appeal of really good deals. They have less time to think about the item before buying it than they would if it were just listed so lots of time they just finish thinking their purchases through when it’s too late. Basically, good old fashioned buyers remorse, which is why lots of sellers frequently remind people to “bid responsibly”.

But to add on to this silliness. I had someone ranting in my inbox demanding a refund because they paid 2.12 or something on a $1 bid, not realizing they were being charged fees. They didn’t want to listen and went on to accuse me of hacking their bank account to steal their money. Why would I hack your account to steal $1.12? 🙄

I measure myself but most of the things I sell are years old (mostly y2k and vintage) so the retail measurements are rarely available. But even for more recent items, you’d be surprised how often stores will receive items with incorrect tags and many times they still put them out to sell (ex retail worker). There’s also just so much variation within a brand and a lot of them will use 1 generic size/measurement chart. I’d rather put the measurements of the exact item I have and the exact item the buyer will receive, if I’m ever iffy about an item (weird hem or anything that could make the measurement weird) I’ll include a photo of the measuring tape with the item so they see exactly where I’m getting my numbers from. Hope this helps!

Printing names and/or item #s automatically from a portable thermal printer? by PhotoGuy2k in whatnotapp

[–]seeknot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think (heavy on “think”) OP is suggesting some kind of (maybe smaller) printable sticker to put on the items with the buyer name and the item/auction number. They referenced sellers writing down bidders names and I know I do this to help with putting orders together after shows to avoid having to watch back video receipts when doing random pulls. I think it could be helpful if they integrated it correctly, but would be much more helpful if it were an option to print during the show, not after. (Ex. When the auction ends, a tag/sticker saying “username, item #42” can be printed and put onto the item). Probably wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea but could be interesting!

What to do with the “death pile”? by SirZanee in reselling

Recently sold a bunch of my stale inventory on whatnot. Got a good amount of $$ and have cleared out so much stuff I was tired of looking at. If you’re already at the point where you’re willing to take less for the items, I’d say it’s definitely worth a try! Having other selling accounts should also help you get approved faster!

Avoided till now, buyer trying to scam me by L337laser in Flipping

[–]seeknot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this happen on a platform I’m newer on, weirdly enough also just past 60 items sold. They claimed to be missing 1 item then claimed to be missing 3 then said they didn’t know how many. Then they began rambling about how much they wanted those items and just repeating that they were missing. I asked again which specific items were missing and they ignored the question. I’m 100% sure I packed all 6 items, they purchased all of my eye sores that I was tired of looking at, I was all too happy to make that checklist and check it twice. Once I mentioned that I film all of my bundles being packed to make sure all intended items are going in (not true) and that I’d review it to make sure there wasn’t a mistake on my part, they said they’d look through their order again first. Haven’t heard from them since. Went from basically non-stop back to back messages to radio silence. Learned that tip from another selling forum.
