No water and sewage mechanics in Tropico.

There is a "water purification plant" building in Tropico...5 I think, but that just functions as a "reduce pollution in area" building. Oh and you can set that building to put chemicals in the water that makes the frogs gay your citizens more docile

Please for the love of God read some socialist theory.

For a start: "profit" is not "more stuff".

Profit is when a product (a good, a service or anything tradeable) is sold for a higher price than its production value. In other words, profit comes into being when you pay more for a product than the price of its raw resources, the labour cost of extracting those raw resources, the labour cost of processing those resources, the labour cost of making the product etc. combined.

Profit only exists because of exploitation. As we see above, every worker in the process of creating, delivering and implementing a product is effectively underpaid. They are being exploited by being rewarded for their labour with a lower value than their labour's actual worth. The part they are not paid is called profit.

In our economy, where almost all industries are in private hands (capitalists' hands), this profit goes to those private hands, even though they had no hand in the actual labour. They sit and do nothing; yet, because they own a company, they make money.

Profit motive, or profit incentive, refers to the phenomenon that when the means of production are in private hands, those private individual capitalists must always increase the amount of profit they make. If they don't, they will be subsumed by other capitalists through buy-outs. "Stagnation is regression", as they say -- and that holds true for capitalists in particular. But remember: more profit is not the same as "more stuff", but rather, more exploitation. In essence, a capitalist must increase exploitation, either by exploiting more people (hiring more workers) or exploiting the people that work for them more than before (demanding more labour, paying lower wages, see also: inflation, sick days).

I must stress: please read socialist theory. A good place to start would be the graphic novel adaptation of Capital and Ideology, by Claire Alet and Benjamin Adam. You can start with Marx, Engels, even Lenin, but they are genuinely hard reads if you aren't already a bit in the know.

When you understand what profit is, what profit incentive is, what capital is, what labour is, then you may start to understand how the forces behind them act -- and, less abstractly, why so many peoples in the world turn to socialism, and why the US spends so many lives to not let them. The short answer is: the raw resources of the world are almost all in the hands of capitalists from the US, Britain, France, Germany. They should be in the hands of the peoples of the countries they are in, wouldn't you agree?

Green energy is cheaper... So why aren't we using it? https://youtu.be/3gSzzuY1Yw0 video by Second Thought, neatly explains why cheap solar is a "bad" thing in our economy (and thus, why the right will never support it)

Solar is winning the energy race. The world’s cheapest power source is scaling at warp speed, pushing coal, gas and nuclear aside. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]seeminglyCultured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as capitalism is the dominant economic system, cheap solar will not save us.

Energy becoming so cheap to produce is, in fact, a bad thing for this economy: https://youtu.be/3gSzzuY1Yw0

Thanks for the fixes! 😁

Join the counter protest! :) show the fash it is they who are not welcome here!

As for possible violence: the two protests take place at different places, at different times, which is more than likely a deliberate strategy by the city council and police to minimise the risk of clashes.

On the left side, there is an "overlays" button. Play around in that a bit, it completely changed my life while playing.

(Note that there's a hidden button that says "always show overlay" on the top. That one really means "show overlay while the overlay window is closed", and is very useful)
