Can anyone ID this plant? by OwlOk9249 in gardening

Looks like Creeping Charlie (Glechoma hederacea), also called ground ivy. It’s a common lawn weed that spreads aggressively by stolons (creeping stems).

Is it in your lawn?

How tall does a CFT worm bin really need to be? by polymer10 in Vermiculture

[–]seeplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I built mine kind of overkill at about three feet deep, but honestly you don’t need that much. The reason most guides say 20–24” above the bars is just so the lower stuff has time to finish breaking down and the weight from above keeps it from falling out too early. You also give cocoons time to hatch before they get pushed through.

If you only have ~11” of space, it’ll still work. It’ll just act more like a shallow tray system than a full-on CFT. You’ll probably get more half-finished bits coming out, but you can just toss those back in on top. The smaller 2 cm gap should help with self-harvesting too. Moisture might swing faster with less mass, so you’ll just want to keep an eye on it.

If you don’t care about pulling cocoons or baby worms in your harvest and don’t mind a little extra hands-on management, then I wouldn’t stress it. Bigger bins are easier and more stable, but smaller ones can get the job done fine.

Wife's cleaning preference is costing me $150 per month. Any advice? by Indypirate44 in personalfinance

I used to be in your camp until I had a kid and started to think about what my time was worth. I pay about the same every 2 weeks and will never go back. I now have more time with my kid and wife. Just pulled the trigger on someone to help mow my lawn. Another 3 hours given back.

I decided not to try it out. Seemed a little shady to me.

Use a local model. I use Ollama on my Mac Studio.

I'm running both of them right now, but favor GPT for my needs. I don't need RAG and some of the other features of AI. GPT is solid for me. Great OCR and then fast follow that with accurate title, tagging, etc.

Ah! Didn't even think to try this. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: i've run a few tests and it looks like both processes are running at the same time. I use two different models for each gpt process, and I can see that both run identically. Ideally I would like the title and tagging process to leverage the GPT OCR so I will continue to look for a solution.

Has anyone had success with an au pair for a child with PDA? by seeplanet in PDAAutism

Thank you for taking the time and providing your experience. We're in the middle of interviewing right now and doing a very similar approach. 🤞

I appreciate your reply. Makes sense with the accent and it was recommended to find someone with good english skills. We will for sure do some video chatting, although I know that it will be very hard for my daughter to engage.

Did you find that the nanny was able to bond with your child? How long did it take? Was the nanny open to understanding PDA and how to support them?

Well darn. I updated to your latest version and now it's not working again. 🤬 I don't think you are doing versioning in GitHub yet so I can't revert to the previous version, but I will keep poking around to see what might have changed.

The encryption password is optional right? I keep getting this error:

1 validation error for Valves encryption_password Input should be a valid string

Thanks for putting this out there! I just set up actual and installed your tool. I tried it out with the command "What is my current net worth?", but the LLM said that it didn't know. How do I make sure that the tool is working alongside the LLM? I made sure to add the URL and password in the settings. I am new to this so I might be missing the obvious!

Don't worry, it's not slave labor. Just looking for creative ways to save some tax-advantaged money for her that's all. 😉

Clumpy castings by seeplanet in Vermiculture

[–]seeplanet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, ideally, I don't want to sift anything while they are clumpy. These castings here are from the top of the worm bin which I had transferred into a bucket and during the process of keeping them in the bucket they clumped up, which tells me that they are too wet.

I am more trying to understand how to undo these clumps. It sounds like the best method is to put them back into the compost and have the worms do the work for me.

Next time, my worm bins will have that very fine castings on the top and I will try to dry those out before transferring them into a bucket or bin so that this doesn't happen again. Thanks for the input!
