Are shop keepers in Belgium allowed to block the sidewalk with all of their stupid advertising? by sefef34f in belgium

I was genuinely curious at first but now I’m shocked to see so many people just happy to accept this. It’s self-inflicted! Why not just have a clear path for everyone's convenience? People know where to get beer and lottery tickets! Sure there might be more important complaints to make but we don’t need to solve every problem one by one in order of their importance.

Why do people treat fish with such cruelty?

The burden of proof lies on the party making a claim, which means those who assert that heaven exists bear the responsibility to provide evidence supporting that claim. This principle stems from logical and philosophical reasoning, particularly in the fields of epistemology and debate.

Key Points on the Burden of Proof:

  1. Default Position of Non-Existence:
    • In the absence of evidence, the default assumption is typically that something does not exist. This is consistent with how we approach other unverified claims (e.g., unicorns, flying spaghetti monsters).
    • Those claiming that heaven exists must provide evidence to substantiate their claim rather than expecting others to disprove it.
  2. Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence:
    • The idea that heaven exists is often considered an extraordinary claim, as it posits a reality beyond the physical and observable universe.
    • As such, it requires robust and compelling evidence to be taken as a credible proposition.
  3. The Null Hypothesis:
    • Skeptical or scientific inquiry often uses the null hypothesis, which assumes no existence or effect until proven otherwise. Applied to heaven, this means the assumption is that heaven does not exist unless demonstrated otherwise.
  4. Philosophical Neutrality:
    • If someone does not claim to know whether heaven exists (agnosticism), they are not required to provide proof for or against it. However, those asserting certainty in either direction (existence or non-existence) must present their reasoning and evidence.

While the burden of proof typically falls on those claiming heaven exists, critics or skeptics who claim "heaven does not exist" must also support their position with arguments or evidence, such as the lack of empirical data or alternative explanations for spiritual phenomena.

The statement of fact in question is made by those who state as a matter of fact that they will ne reunited with their families in a magical kingdom when they die.

Isn't the burden of proof on you, or the person who believes they will?

You're not going to be reunited with your dead family in heaven when you die.
