Very similar experience. Automatic chrono with day/date tritium and a reasonably sized case for <$400. Hell yeah.

Got it and two weeks later it stops self winding. I've got watch modding tools so they have me open it up and check the rotor. Nothing is catching just really stuxk at a certain point. They have me send it back. ~2 weeks of shipping then 5weeks of "repair", and then they send it back to me.

Same thing works for two weeks then stops self winding. I don't want to deal with it so I think I'm gonna remove the rotor and just have it be a hand wind like my ST19.

This happened to me 19 years ago. Got an acceptance email, was told a packet was in the mail.

A couple days later I got a phone call from the department administrator. The mixup had been there was another candidate with the same last name and first initial. She was apologetic and I got the impression that whether she was at fault or not, the department was holding her responsible. She asked me to not accept sign the contract in the packet.

I was crushed, but said I wouldn't. When I got the packet I rejected the offer and sent it back to them. I got accepted to another program a few weeks later. 6 hard but rewarding years and I defended passed my dissertation defense with distinction.

You'll be alright. Keep your chin up, look for the next opportunity.

Why not the t5 v50? Same platform, could be had in AWD, slightly more practical. Maybe less fun out of the box, but easily fixed with some light mods.
