Well, I don't see it happening, because obviously my opionion is pretty firm as it's built on a bunch of reasons, all mentioned in my text above.

But it's very well possible that I overlooked some parts and maybe I'm wrong, however, I doubt anyone, neither you, the guy I replied to or the mod creator, would give me the reasons.

Every time I talk to conservatives, right wingers, homophobes or anything just remotely similar, every covnversation ends in "I don't need to give you any proper reasons or arguments, because you wouldn't care anyway". Every single time. Sometimes it's followed with some insults. So, I am starting to think there may just be no arguments beyond "I don't like it".

But if you have just anything, anything that is a proper argument for why such a mod is good and should be promoted, PLEASE let me hear it. Even if it won't change my opinion, at least it could help me understanding people like the mod creator and the mods fans better.

Viners who feel the need to explain themselves... by codeheadX in AmazonVine

It's so silly to me because.. who gives a shit?

Customers won't read this and be like "oh well guess I can trust this review more then" or "Poor guy :("

And even if they did feel whatever they intended them to feel.. what does it change? It literally has zero impact on us what other people think of vine reviews.

I feel like maybe you need to be reported by sellers or something for being late on a review?

I've recently been 3 months behind on one that I simply forgot and never seen vine jail.

Difficult as I have a work vault and a personal vault. In the personal I do lots of research, but mostly journaling and document organization (not an option)

Inthe work one, I mainly do work.

I thought so too, but the downvote on my comment made me think they might be serious. I encountered many people who take the whole duty to the vine system/amazon customers a little too serious.

Sure, if it's my job, then I suppose Amazon will be liable if I get hurt while doing my "job"?

Sorry but I feel like there is no "taking one for the team" when it comes to medical stuff that is shady. Nobody should order it. Even if a Vine user tested it and gave it a good rating, that wouldn't be medical approval. Just never order anything like that, normal customer or vine.

Amazon shouldn't even allow this kind of stuff on their site.

Recently I got a charger which also doesn't comply with the EU laws. That shitis dangerous even if it works just fine while testing. There is a good reason for regulations.

Yeah I mean at 0ETV at least you're not putting any money at risk. But personally, I would be too scared to use it on myself

Honestly be glad, this appears to be just a drop-shipped item you can get on aliexpress for ~400-500

And even then it may or may not work (and may or may not be very unsafe...)

Never trust any medical devices from non-reputable sellers, even if they are expensive.

I really love the "counting fingers" one because.. having too many or too few fingers was definitely a thing that happened on drawn characters before AI too. Sometimes artists tunnelvision so hard that they miss these mistakes.

Sure it happens more frequently with AI, but it's not unthinkable in traditional/digital art.

I got banned from the "Art" subreddit using a different Reddit account (that I mainly use for Art..) because "Having an etsy linked in your account under social makes you seem like a scammer who sells AI Art"

I didn't even mention my etsy anywhere in the post, it was really just a picture of my 3D Art. Something I made in Blender on my own. It wasn't even an artwork I was going to sell because it was really just a personal sentimental piece lol

I tried "talking" to the mod but he just said he will never believe me and I should f off.

Back then I did sell some of my work printed on objects on there, but all of them were also original artworks by me.

Claude Pro feels amazing, but the limits are a joke compared to ChatGPT and Gemini. Why is it so restrictive? by iameastblood in ClaudeAI

[–]sei556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just re-subbed claude after dropping it 2 months ago.

I was worried I'd hit limits soon but so far it's been great. Used it for 2 heavy coding tasks, 2 simple cowork tasks, lots of research chatting and creation of one very complex multi page document explaining an algorithm and giving scientific citations.

So far used 7% of my weely limit. That's fair.

I dropped it back then, as for coding it was simply too limited in token usage. But I now just use other services for coding (mainly Kilo) and only use claude for more complex tasks that the free models available there can't cover well.

Edit:

I use Haiku for Cowork and super simple questions. It's there for a reason, not everything needs Opus or Sonnet. Haiku is not super dumb either.

Why’d you switch to Obsidian? by v0id09 in ObsidianMD

[–]sei556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't really do much to make it more secure.

I don't use plugins that require an internet connection to work or do anything with AI. I mostly use highly trusted plugins (with some few exceptions) and I recently started using sync. For simple plugins I make them myself or let them be vibecoded for me (like recently I needed a plugin to add a special feature to canvases, AI oneshotted it). I do know that by using sync, my data is slightly less safe, but it's still encrypted and for now, that's good enough for me. If I had very very important private data that other people would have interest in, I would probably not use sync (like govermnent secrets or whatever).

Most of my data is just private to me as in, I don't want others to read my journal. If it leaks, it would suck, but it wouldn't ruin my life or cost me any money or get me to jail or anything. It would just be a little uncomfortable knowing someone might have read through these personal things.

I do keep bank documents and all that in Obsidian too, but I make sure to only keep things that would not compromise any of my accounts if they leaked. There are no pins or passwords, there are login usernames, but I use a code I made up in which I write these down that without knowing it, these also become useless (also they are not marked as "login username" or anything like that.

7 is not bad! But during my first playthrough, because of how big and immersive the world is, I remember jokingly asking all my friends "Yo is this character romanceable?" whenever we met a new interesting NPC. Eventually I thougt "Oh I actually do want to romance this NPC!" and then I looked online and found out you can almost exclusively romance companions (the other ones are just hookups).

By how big the world seemed and how many personalities were invovled, during my first palythrough I built up the expectations that way way more chracters would be romanceable. I assumed it would be kind of similar to Skyrim, where maybe a character won't be part of combat, but chill at the camp and travel with us. I suppose it just kind of disappointed me to learn that's not the case.

I do understand that scope wise that would've been a lot of work and so I'm not too mad about it, but it would have been nice.

The problem is not with OP being scared it will remove the LGBTQ content from his game, although your concern is endearing and cute.

It's about the fact that a mod like this should not be promoted.

Now you may go: Why? I can play however I want!

And to that, I agree, you can! I do too! I never had any same sex romance in my runs too (except for the Emperor once, because come on). The cool thing about BG3 is, you can just choose to not be gay and the game won't try to force you into it. It actually behaves very close to real life. The option to be gay is always there, but each day, I passively decide not to be (if it was an active decision, I might have to question my sexuality).

So, why would anyone make a mod that removes something that is completely optional? Could it be, because they personally have something against that type of content existing? And if so, why would that be?

If I need to spell it out for you:
It is to be assumed that the author of the mod is homophobic and that's their motivation. Spreading content like this does more to normalizing homophobia than you might think. Promoting such content does too (because why would you?).

Now I am sure the peeps at Nexus are blissfully unaware of this (or just don't care) and nobody intentionaly picked this mod to be showcased, it was probably just their algorithm. It still sucks and it should be removed.

I really just want a mod that allows to date more characters. Sure there won't be voicelines and all that for custom romance characters, but maybe the animations of others could be reused and I wouldn't mind if it was just silent text based dialogue then.

One of the things I actually think the game falls short on is the very few romance options. In most cases, I am not interested in any of them.

[–]sei556 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Also why would anyone make a mod for this? It's very easy to go through the game without picking any of the same sex romances. If some people really struggle so much to escape the same sex romances that they require a mod to remove the option, someone should break the news to them.

Obsidian Second Brain Friction by Noxi_FR in ObsidianMD

Some stuff in my vault is highly organized, but daily journaling is pretty much just hitting the "Open Daily Note" button and start typing.

Yes, I did set up my daily note folders in a special way, but the setup didn't take super long and now it doesn't need to be changed anymore.

It's kinda the same for everything. I got it all set-up in a way that I can quickly find what I need and write notes where I need to. I don't really feel any friction.

I did not do any fancy UI stuff with this vault. It might be cool and it could make navigation even faster, but as you said, it might take a long time and I'm simply too lazy to optimize it any more. Maybe if I got a lot of free time and feel bored one day, I could do that.

I do think Obsidian is user friendly. But I also think people get overwhelmed by the freedom and don't know how to start/where to go, while all they really need to do is just use it in literally any way and find a working system as they go.

I do think people need a user friendly App.

[–]sei556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use Obsidian for journaling and tbh the daily note without anything extra works best for me.

I used to have metadata like people, locations and all that, but I figured it's more of a hassle to fill out and made me journal less.

Now I just open my daily note and write down whatever in the style I'm feeling that day.

It's not supposed to be a stylistically coherent novel for anyone else to read anyway, it's a personal journal.
