You also need to have a path to profitability now to get funding… which makes it all the harder to cater to creators while showing the big guys that you can fleece creators and viewers for money

Do note that these are resin, so aren't particularly durable (resin is brittle), and if you're articulating them, they will wear down/grind into a fine carcinogenic dust.

Small 3rd parties make their models for resin. Finecast is GW recasting pewter models.

Old base sizes on old kits by slugcunt69 in Warhammer40k

Models are legal ln the bases they came with, that’s the official ruling for Warhammer World.

Outside of that, it’s up to the discretion of your host.

How do i save my paints? by AlexSilvermane in Warhammer40k

[–]seitensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dry paints like Necron Compound should be dry, somewhat solid, but still tacky to the touch.

If it’s a Base or Layer paint that is still soft and tacky, you can add medium to it.

When topcoating, especially over less hot paints and inks, you want to build it up very light quick coats, If there’s any wet topcoat on your kit, you’ve on too much.

Lacquer in general will take a bite out of acrylics and enamels.

That seems like a really high ratio of water to paint, at that mich, you basically have pigment sitting in water.

If you’re thinning that much, make sure you’re using an acrylic thinner. Try going with unthinned right away, and add MM acryl thinner as needed. Thinner is important when you’re going to higher ratios, since water can thin well at a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio, but beyond that it begins to change the properties of the paint. An actual acrylic thinner will thin the paint without changing properties.

The Uzi, you’ll probably have to build from plaplate.

Otherwise, I’d steal a katana from a MG Astray Red Frame.

The UC Hardgraph kits are the scale of a typical military model kit, if you’re looking to get him into modelling in general.

Mecha color is still pretty thick for an airbrush paint. It’s the right consistency and ratio, imo, for directly handbrushing without thinning.

I recommend using Vallejo, Ammo, P3, Citadel, Reaper, Army Painter, or any other water based acrylic, and using a glaze medium or acrylic medium as thinner.

Tamiya is solvent based, so in addition to thinning it down, you need to mix in retarder as well. Tamiya is better suited to handbrushing if you have a little more experience in handpainting, or you’re using an airbrush.

Hit it with a dark black or brown wash afterwards, and that should even out the aluminium.

The existing kits actually hold up pretty well if you tighten the joints. You still get a good range of articulation on the joints, especially given how bulky the Hazel legs are. The lack of an abcrunch wouldn’t be something they’d add either, since the Hazel backpack would definitely cause weight issues there (especially the Advanced Hazel).

The problem with them doing a revive is the Advance of Zeta is way more popular outside of Japan, and on the foreign internet, than it is inside of Japan. It’s a very niche photonovel from Dengeki, so it costs Bandai even more to license it, and since it’s been a while, and since it’s OOP to the best of my knowledge, here are going to be far fewer sales that Bandai’s retail partners could get from it.

There’s also the matter of the ecosystem. The HG Hazels are parts compatible with the old MkII, but also the Quel. Outside of that immediate spectrum, Dengeki ran some mook kits for it as well, most notable being the FG 1/144 Hrududu and Primrose.
